Both I and my sister left her room and went into the puja room. We had just lit the lamp when we heard a deep chilling voice which went through our spines. It was my mother who was asking us to come out of the puja room. It was very strange for us. It was our daily ritual to light the lamp and take it into every room. However, by the time she could stop us, we had already lit the lamp. When we took the lamp out of the puja room, we found our mother standing some eight ten feet outside the puja room.
It was quite strange for us. Moments before she was not even able to come out of her bed and right now she was standing outside the puja room, all enraged. She was raging in anger and was shouting on us. However, the moment she saw us coming out of the puja room with lamp in our hand, she ran towards her room as if she was a sprinter while screaming loudly. We kept the lamp back into the puja room and ran behind our mother.
We were a little bit afraid to go near her, but my elder sister showed courage and went to her. My mother was sitting on her bed with her head dropping down and her hair hiding her face. My sister put her hand on my mother’s head and asked her if she was fine. My mother slowly twisted her head right towards my sister and told her that she was fine, but advised her not to light the lamp again. My sister innocently asked why to which she gave two tight slaps on her face to show her discomfort from lighting the lamp again.
Standing far away from her bed, I could see that it was not my mother. Her eyes were all red as if blood is going to ooze out of those eyes. I had never seen my mother without combed hair and this lady in front of me was nothing but a devil. My sister too was stuck dumb by her behavior and looks. My mother shouted at us to get lost and leave her alone.
We came out and saw our servant, Ramu, standing outside the room. He was able to make out that there is something very wrong with my mother. He had been a loyal servant and had looked after us since our birth. I am not sure what came into his mind, he slowly went into my mother’s room and asked, “Madam, I think that you need rest. The children are troubling you so I will take them out to play in the garden. You can take rest now.”
My mother replied angrily, “Yes, take these swine out of my sight and make sure they don’t enter the house before night. Bring them to me at night as I have made some special plans for them tonight.”, and gave a crooked smile looking at us. Ramu took us out of the house but instead of taking us to the garden he took us into the car and drove us to a very sacred temple of Goddess Dhoomavati which was located outside the city.
He didn’t speak a single word till the time we didn’t reach into the temple premises. Even though we tried to ask him where he was taking us, he just signaled to keep quite. The chief pundit of the temple knew us as my mother used to visit the temple regularly. Ramu told him regarding the strange behavior of my mother. The pundit asked me and my sister, “Did you notice anything strange, like shadows, things moving out of their own, strange noises etc. at home?”
I told the pundit that when I and my sister were coming back into the home yesterday, I saw three shadows instead of two entering into the home. I also told him what all had happened since morning. Ramu and my sister affirmed it. Hearing this, the pundit said, you people must not go into the house tonight. There is a huge possibility that our lives are in danger. He advised us to stay within the temple only.
We agreed as we didn’t dare to go back into that house too. That night was very frightful. It was dark and raining heavily. Sounds of thunder and sudden lightening made the environment even scarier. Around 3:00 am, we heard someone screaming outside the temple premises. The chief pundit slightly opened the window and was left perplexed to see my mother shouting outside the temple premises. She was shouting to return her kid as she was missing them dearly. Me and my sister were about to go out when the chief pundit and Ramu stopped us and put their hands over our mouth so that we can’t shout.
That fearful screaming continued for more than an hour and we were held like that only. Tears were coming out of our eyes as we were worried about our mother. After some time, Lord Sun emerge as our savior and at that very I can still very clearly remember the days of my childhood. My childhood was not a normal one. I was born in a very rich family and we belonged to business class. My early childhood was full of luxuries and tons of love. I had one elder sister and both of us were the soul of our family. We spent our days playing around the home. Then one day, my father came home extremely delighted. I can still remember that charm on his face. However, little did we know that this charm was not going to last longer.
The reason behind my father’s happiness was that he had won a case against one of his competitor. There was a dispute over a very big villa which was finally won by my father. Even though our current home was a big one, however, my father had always wanted a bigger house for us. My father told my mother that we should move into that villa the next week, but my mother being a holy lady, insisted to go into that home on the first day of the Navratras, which was about two months away. My father, being an atheist, didn’t welcome her idea and thus all of us moved into that villa the next week. My mother wanted a proper puja to be done before entering in the house, but being a very busy man, my father never had time for such things.
Both I and my sister were delighted to see the big house. It was really very big! There was a huge garden in front of our villa, rooms were very spacious, the furniture were all very royal and it appeared as if we were in some palace. We started to play within the entire house and my mother was watching us in pleasure. She looked into my father’s eyes as if she was saying that his decision to move early into this big house was correct. My father gave back a smile, hugged me and my sister and left for his business. My father was going out of the city for a day due to business reasons.
As they say, good time passes very quickly and so was that day. Soon the darkness of night covered the entirety of the villa and my mother called both of us to come back and have the dinner. While we were entering into the home, I could see there were three shadows instead of two. It made me a bit skeptical, but being a child, I ignored it. We sat down on the dining table and had our dinner. My mother then took us into our bed room and started to narrate religious story to us till we didn’t fall asleep.
The next day when we woke up, it was a bright sunny day. My mother used to awake us early in the morning and it was the first time in my life that I had slept so long. We came out of our bed and went into my mother’s room. I found that she was sleeping. We went close to her and found out that she was suffering from high fever. We called our family doctor at that very moment. The doctor was surprised too to discover such a high fever. He inquired us if she had been ill for a long time to which we gave a negative response. Doctor gave her some medicines and told us to take good care of her.
My mother asked us to put on the curtains as she was not feeling comfortable in the bright sunlight. We did the same and then asked our servants to bring some food for her. My mother was just to eat the food when I asked her, “ Mummy, won’t you worship to day ? ” I innocently asked this question because I had never seen her even drink some water before worshiping Lord Narayana, no matter how busy or ill she was. My mother stared deeply in my eyes as if she was asking, who gave you this authority moment we heard a deep chilling scream. As it was day now, the pundit considered it safe to go out. The chief pundit asked his holy men to go out and check if everything was all right. His men went out only to find that my mother was still there, but she was lying unconscious. They called the chief pundit who instructed them to bring her into the temple premises.
My mother was all pale, it appeared as if all her blood had drained out of her body. The chief pundit took her into the main temple area and placed her in front of the Goddess. In the meantime, Ramu went to the railway station to stop my father to go to the home. He narrated the entire incident to him and brought him to the temple. My father didn’t believe a single word till the time he didn’t enter the temple premises. The moment we saw him, we came rushing towards him and started crying. We told him what all had happened and took him to the main temple. There was my mother lying on the floor.
My father too was shocked to see her. How can a person look so pale and sick when a day before the person was absolutely fine? The chief pundit told my father, “You are extremely lucky to have a servant like Ramu. Had he not brought the kids here, you might have lost your family. However, the danger is still not over. We need to go to the house and enforce the evil spirit to leave your home”.
Then my father, chief pundit and few of his other holy men along with Ramu went into the home and they performed a holy ritual there that night. They came back to the temple the next day and there was a relief on my father’s face. He took a bath and straightaway went into the temple and bowed before the Goddess. There were tears in his eyes, most probably because of his cold heartedness towards the mother Goddess.
Instead of going to that villa, we went to our old house from the temple. We went into that villa only after a complete 9 days ritual performed during the Navaratras. Even though, I’m grown up now, I still don’t know what had happened that night which made my father such a great follower of Goddess Dhumavati. All that I know is that my father experienced both negative energy and the divine power that night, however I don’t know the details of the incidents that took place that night. Whenever I ask regarding the details of that night, my father’s face becomes plain as if he is still living that moment. I can easily make out that my father will never ever forget that night in his entire life.
Many years later, I met my Gurudev and one day I narrated this incidence to him. He too went into silence and then told me that you people survived because of your mother’s faith in God. Goddess Dhumavati had guided Ramu to take you people to the temple. That night, your father saw the evil spirit who had possessed your mother. All this happened due to the black magic being done by that businessman who was also desperate for that property. Their plan was to kill you, your sister and your mother by the help of that spirit. This would have left your father broken and avenged his defeat.
Gurudev then also told me the Sadhana which was performed that night to get rid of the evil spirit. He also told me that this Sadhana can be performed to win over any enemies, unfavorable planets, black magic and poverty. I am sharing the same for the benefit of all.
