The blind cannot lead the blind, only a master, one who knows God, can rightly teach others about Him. To regain one’s divinity one must have such a master or Guru. He who faithfully follows a true Guru becomes like him, for the Guru helps to rise the disciple to his own level of realization. The Gurudisciple relationship is the highest expression of friendship, for it is based on unconditional divine love and wisdom. It is the sweetest and most sacred of all relationships. One who participates in this relationship is on the way to wisdom and freedom.
The Guru is the awakened God , awakening the sleeping God in the disciple. Through sympathy and deep vision, a true Guru sees the Lord suffering in the physically, mentally, and spiritually poor, and that is why He feels it is His joyous duty to assist them. He tries to feed the hungry God in the destitute, to stir the sleeping God in the ignorant, to love the unconscious God in the enemy, and to waken the half asleep God in the yearning devotee. And by a gentle touch of love, He instantaneously arouses the almost fully awakened God in the advanced seeker. The Guru is, among all men, the best of givers. Like the Lord Himself, His generosity knows no boundaries.
There is a very good saying regarding the importance of finding a great Guru in life.
We have to choose Guru very carefully and wisely. If we make Guru without thinking, then we have to again take birth throughout the 84 lakhs species of life.
Mother gives the first birth to a child. We come into the world through the mother. But second birth is through the Guru. The master delivers you the knowledge and skill. We all play the role of teacher, guide, Guru, but when the spiritual knowledge is so total, that one is called SadGuru. A teacher gives knowledge and Guru gives height of awareness and makes you alive. Teacher gives information; Guru gives intelligence, an awakened intelligence.
The presence of light enables us to feel connected with the world. If we are sitting in a well lit room at night and suddenly there is a power cut for few minutes and there is no source of light around us, we start feeling uneasy. We start feeling detached from the world. Everything around us remains the same, the room within which we are sitting exists the same way, the furniture around us remain the same, the books around us remain the same but as we can’t see them, we get detached with those things and thus with the world. A similar condition exists with the God. The God exists everywhere, but as we are unable to see Him, we find ourselves unattached with Him. The moment, the light will come i.e. the moment we will gain the sight to see the God, we will be able to feel attached with Him. And all this is only possible by the grace of a SadGuru.
Very fortunate are those people who get a Guru in life. More fortunate are those people who are blessed with an alive Guru. And what can be talked about the fortune of those people who are blessed with a SadGuru in life, a SadGuru who is easily approachable, who is keen to meet all of us, who is eager to help us and who is willing to take all your pains in life. It is a very common sight that people come and visit Gurudev with lots of tension, with eyes full of tears displaying their pain. After meeting Him, all of them come out as a highly satisfied individual. All of them have a sweet smile over their face. Such is the charm of our SadGurudev that whosoever comes in His contact gets rid of all the pains and sufferings of life. The person comes out feeling blessed, his eyes though still remaining wet, but this time it is because of the eternal pleasure of meeting the great master.
Guru Poornima is a very important day in the life of a disciple. This was the day when we can offer our gratitude towards the divine master for guiding us, for taking us to the path of glory and making sure we attain nirvana in life. Even though the great lord is always willing to grant what the disciple needs, on this day the SadGuru grants what all the disciples wishes for in life. It may be financial boons or a wish to give birth to a great personality or to get rid of all the sufferings or diseases or to win over the enemies or to gain spiritual enlightenment. This day is essentially a day of boons for the disciple.
Kabir mentions that even if a person converts the complete earth as paper and take all the woods that can be attained by cutting all the trees in this world and make pen out of it and take the complete water of all the oceans and use them as ink, still one can’t write about the greatness of a SadGuru. In other words, one can’t narrate the greatness of SadGuru.
This is the day to show our love towards of our revered SadGuruDev. If we try to understand the Guru properly, then it is the disciples for whom the Guru has incarnated on this planet. It is the disciples for whom Guru goes through all the troubles, sufferings and pains of this human form. It is the Guru who still keeps a smile on His face even after drinking all the poisons of His disciples. This is the day to show our gratitude towards Him. This is the day to show that yes, we care for our Gurudev. Gurudev too is eagerly waiting to meet His loved ones!!!
“There is nothing like Guru’s birthday and Guru Poornima in the life of a disciple. Guru Poornima is special not only for the disciples or sadhaks but is celebrated by the entire universe. Such is the personality and nature of our revered SadGuruDev that whosoever tries to attain His blessings, definitely gets overwhelmed on this day,,
