Do rich people have a happy life? No, there are thousands around us who are very rich but are struggling in their life with various problems like diseases, personal relationship issues etc. Does becoming the most knowledgeable person brings true happiness? No, because just knowledge alone can’t bring happiness in life. Do strong people live a happy life? A big no, because they are aware of this fact that one day they will grow old and someone will defeat them. Now, you can analyze this fact that this world is all just an illusion and nothing else? We just keep on increasing our desires day after other. Till some point this desire is definitely necessary, as it is the basis of life as we can’t survive without feeding ourselves. However, we don’t need those lavish dinners, those highly expensive clothes, those luxurious houses to live a happy and peaceful life.
We human being just keep on planning for our future, of which we are completely unaware of. We plan for our old age, yet we don’t even know if we are going to enter into the old age or we are going to die much before that. One must plan, however not at the cost of current life. One must try to live a moderate life and should save for future. Similarly, we keep on increasing our wishes in our daily life and this results in tensions, problems leading to diseases. Are we sure that we are going to live to see those events in our life? There is nothing bad in setting goals for oneself, but what is wrong is those useless desires of a man which keeps him pushing to attain them though they are not very significant in our life.
We don’t find time to do exercise, but we always have time to spend an hour with our colleagues in useless talks. We don’t have enough money to help someone in need, though we buy the most expensive mobile that exists in the market. We don’t have time to spend it with our family because we pretend to be too busy, whereas in realty we waste our full day on social media. It is we who need to set correct goals for ourselves in life. And there is no better day than Sanyast Mahotsava to do it. This is the day when we must analyze ourselves. One must evaluate what greatness I have achieved in last one year? What makes me different from the rest of this crowd? What did I do in this last one year which will make my Guru feel proud of me?
The word Sanyaas is generally interpreted as to leave the household and become an ascetic. However it is not the truth. Even an ascetic who has not found peace within is not a true Sanyaasi. A true sanyaasi is a person who has attained peace with his soul. Such a person doesn’t roam around like animal for worldly pleasures. Such a great soul understands that what all is happening around him is just an illusion. All these people around me are running indefinitely on a circular path seeking its end point. It is because these people don’t understand that a circle’s starting point in itself is it’s end point. They don’t have anything valuable to attain in life and are wasting their life by just waking up in morning, going out to earn their living, coming back to home again in the evening and then sleeping. This is their cyclic process and they are accustomed to this style of living.
The reason behind this behavior is that they have not met with a SadGuru in life. It might be true that they might have met with some story tellers, it might be true that they might have met with someone who possesses some divine power. However, a SadGuru is way more satisfying than these people. A story teller can just narrate some incidents that took place in history and that’s his way of earing his living. They also fall in the same category of those people who are just running on a circular track. A siddha person is a person who has attained some divine power by his penance and can help someone to resolve their issues. However, even this person can’t be compared to a SadGuru.
A SadGuru is a person who has attained peace within Himself, He is the person who can also help a person attain that peace in his life. A SadGuru appears before His disciple like an oasis in desert before a person who is about to die. Nothing more fortunate can happen in the life of a person than to meet a SadGuru and attain the privilege to sit in His holy feet. A SadGuru knows what is required in the life of His disciple to bring peace to his life. One incident from the life of Gautam Buddha is shared below. It occurred when Gautam Buddha had attained the divine knowledge or nirvana and was on His journey to enlightenment the human society. He was traveling through a jungle with His disciples when He saw a person lying down. The person looked pale and it appeared that he would die in a couple of minutes only.
Gautam Buddha asked His disciple, “What should be given to this person first?” “Some mantra, my Lord!”, said one of the disciples. “May be enlightenment, my Lord!”, said another disciple.
“May be some divine knowledge, my Lord!”, said someone else. Gautam Buddha listened to all these inputs from His disciples and then said, “First of all, this person should be given cold water to drink and some food to eat.”
Gautam Buddha knew that what great a hungry and thirsty man would have attained listening to His sermon, or the mantra or any divine knowledge. Only when a person is fully content, then only sermons, mantra, divine knowledge can be useful. Similarly, a SadGuru understands the miseries of a disciple, He understands the pains, the sufferings, the shortcomings of His disciples and guides them accordingly. It is only through this path that a disciple can attain that inner peace with his soul. This Sanyaas Divas is the day when a disciple can fulfill his or her desires, when he or she can get rid of all the sins that have been committed in past several lives, this is the day when a disciple can attain peace with the soul.
This is among those few divine days when a disciple can overcome his or her miseries, when a disciple can win over difficult situations of life, when a disciple can attain what he or she has wished for in life. This is the day to uplift our soul, this is the day to re-evaluate where we stand in life and what we really want to attain in this life. If we don’t want to attain anything great in our life, then this is just any another calender day. However, if we really want to make something valuable out of ourselves, if we have a keen desire to make ourselves stand taller and strong in a crowd of thousands of people, then this is that day.
SadGurudev will be granting Poorna Grihastha Sanyast Diksha on this day. This diksha itself can bring what all a disciple can think of. This diksha can help a person rise vertically in life, in both materialistic as well as in spiritual world. It is necessary to win over all the conflicts of life if we wish to attain peace in life. Until and unless our desires gets fulfilled, we can’t attain any pleasure in life. Life is just like a handful of sand dunes held within our fist. Slowly but steadily, sand dunes are falling out of our fist. It is now up to us whether we wish to efficiently use the remaining sand dunes or to waste them too in the way we have wasted the fallen ones. What is certain is that those sand dunes will eventually fall down one day!
