Lord Bhairav, as is popular, is the incarnation of Lord Shiva. In the Kali Khand of Shakti Sangam Tantra is a small story regarding the origin of Lord Bhairav. According to it a mighty demon, Apaad, through the powers of penance, had acquired the boon of invincibility. As a result, all the Gods were extremely troubled and they started to think of a way of defeating him collectively. Even as they were thinking thus, suddenly divine rays started emanating from the body of Lord Shiva which took the form of five year old ‘Batuk’ Batuk Bhairav annihilated the demon ‘ Apaad’ and ended the troubles of the Gods. Hence, he came to be known as Apaduddharak Batuk Bhairav.
‘Tantra Lok’ has described Bhairav as “Bhaibheemadibhih Avteeti Bhairav” i.e. one who protects from the worst calamities and catastrophes. The populace is generally filled with a sense of apprehension and fear regarding Bhairav Sadhana. Their belief, however is baseless. In fact this Sadhana is extremely simple and easy and can be performed by anyone. The Sadhak must be well acquainted with the basic facts related to this Sadhana.
This Sadhana should be performed with a particular motive. This Sadhana should be performed only during the night. Day time is completely prohibited. The daily offerings remain changing in Bhairav Sadhana i.e. He must be offered rice porridge on Sunday, “Laddu” on Monday, ghee and jaggery on Tuesday, curd and jaggery on Wednesday, Laddus of gram-flour on Thursday, roasted grams on Friday and pakodas of black grams on Saturday. Apart from these, apples and fried wafers can also be offered.
The Sadhak must take a bath during the night time and sit facing the South. Then he must light an oil- lap in front of the Batuk Bhairav Yantra anc chant the under given verse.

Then he must obtain the permission of Lord Bhairav with folded hands and commence the recitation of the following Mantra with Black Hakeek rosary.
This twenty-one-lettered mantra is considered extremely powerful and efficient. If its one round is chanted daily for a month starting from Shiv Ratri then the Sadhana surely fulfils his desires. One can also complete the Sadhana in one day by chanting 30 rounds of the Mantra at one go. One can choose any day Apart from this, there are several other practices of Batuk Bhairav.
Light an oil lamp and facing South chant 11 round of this Mantra Om Hreem Bhairav Bhayankar Har Maam Raksh Raksh Hoom Phat Swaahaa Do this ritual after 9 p.m on any day.
If a Sadhak chants the afore mentioned Batuk Bhairav Mantra ten thousand time in a jungle or on the bank of river, on any Thursday morning (before sunrise), then he is able to enchant anyone in the future.
This Mantra is extremely efficacious and is known as Swarnakarshan Bhairav Mantra i.e. a Mantra which attracts gold. If a Sadhak chants this mantra ten thousand times during the night of a Wednesday or Friday facing the West, after lighting an oil lamp in front of himself, then he surely attains riddance from poverty.
In every ritual mentioned here Batuk Bhairav Yantra must be place before oneself during Sadhana Black Hakeek rosary must be used. Bhairav Sadhana extremely easy and is said to bestow instant results in the present times.
