It was probably the lowest point of my life. It was the year of 2006 & the month was June. My father died due to blood cancer a couple of days back. Majority of the savings were spent on his treatment, & we were not left with much money. The future didn’t look very bright for us & it was just the beginning of my struggles. I am the youngest child in my family & thus this was a very tough time for me. Never in my worst dream had I ever thought that I might have to face such a day in life. All our relatives started to consider us a liability & it was hard to believe the sudden change in their behaviour. Probably that’s why it is said that even the shadow desserts a person at night (bad time).
The only ray of hope for us was the job I got during campus placement by the divine grace of SadGurudev. A couple of days back, I was a college student who was full of joy & energy after getting selected for the job & now this job was my desperate need, the only means to earn a living for me & my family. How quickly the time changes! I left my weeping mother & brother & came to Delhi, the place I got the job.
As I was not possessing a lot of money, I couldn’t afford any good place for accommodation. The company had given me an accommodation for a week & that was like a saviour for me. I didn’t had any money to give to any broker who could help me find a room. I used to work during the daytime & went out for house hunting during evenings. Fortunately, I was able to find a place that I could afford. I still remember I just had a bedsheet with me at that time, I didn’t even had enough money to purchase a normal mattress. It was peak summer; my room was at top floor & there was no fan in it, I used to sweat the whole night.
There were mosquitoes & ants all around the room who would trouble me during the entire night. The first month was the toughest due to two reasons – first I didn’t had enough money & secondly I was not used to living like this.
And then came the payday, when my first salary got credited into my account. I went to my home & gave my mother majority of it. I just kept some money that could suffice my needs for the coming month. After a couple of days, I came back to Delhi & bought a lean mattress & a fan. I think, that was the first time I slept well in that room!
My company used to give food coupons to the employees who used to work till late nights. I used to work late hours to get those coupons & used them to purchase some food the next day. As I didn’t had enough money to feed myself, I started to eat just once every day. I had to manage for food during weekends as there was no food supplied in office in those days.
I came to know Gurudev visits Delhi every month & I too tried to reach to Ashram whenever He was available. The bus ticket costed me ten rupees a side to reach the Ashram from my room. Days started to pass, & I got used to my circumstances. During this period, I grew much weaker due to lack of nourishment. My relatives hardly talked to me during that time & in a way I was fortunate as I got rid of those people in my life.
It is said that a person loses his wisdom during bad times, & it was true with me too. Many times I became disinterested in my job & felt like quitting it. However, Gurudev always guided me during those doubtful days & told me to create a space for myself in the organisation I am working.
On one such day when Gurudev was visiting Delhi, I too went to meet Him. After the end of Guru Aarti, Gurudev sat on a chair & all the disciples were allowed to touch His holy feet. I was standing at the very last & was in a dilemma – I had twenty rupees in my pocket, ten rupees for bus fare and ten rupees for dinner. If I offer the ten rupees in the holy feet of Gurudev what will I eat? I haven’t eaten anything the whole day and my hunger was playing with my mind. Suddenly, a thought came to my mind, “You won’t die if you won’t eat for a night!”.
One might think it to be a mere coincidence, but for me it was the moment from which everything changed in my life. The moment this thought came to my mind, SadGurudev immediately looked at me. When my turn came, I bowed down in His feet & offered the ten rupees into His holy feet. Gurudev blessed me by putting His hands on my head. I was happy with my decision & left for my home.
When I boarded the bus & the conductor asked for money, I put my hands in my pocket & was left amazed to see there were thirty rupees in my pocket instead of just ten rupees. It might appear to be a fake story to a lot of readers, but I know there was no more money in my pocket than the remaining ten rupees. One knows how much they have in their pocket when your pocket is lean!
I was deeply touched by the grace Gurudev showered upon me. When I stepped down from the bus, I directly went to the Dosa seller & purchased a Dosa that costed me ten rupees. The satisfaction I got by eating that Dosa was nothing less than that of a feast. Probably, that was most satisfying meal I had during those tough times. Without any doubt, I had a great sleep that night too.
With due time, Gurudev blessed me many times with several divine Dikshas & my financial as well as physical condition improved significantly in a matter of few years. As of today, I am blessed with what all one can think of for living a comfortable life. I can’t thank Gurudev enough & thus I am sending this letter as my offering into His holy feet. May SadGurudev help all the disciples & bestow happiness, satisfaction, success, health & wealth on them.
18th January is the incarnation day of our revered SadGurudev Shri Kailash Chandra Shrimali Ji & it is our duty to offer our love, wishes & gratitude towards Him on this day. For sure, just like the above disciple, we all are blessed with a lot of grace by our beloved Gurudev & we must offer our gratitude towards Him.
SadGurudev will surely guide all the disciples on to the path following which we can attain the goals of our lives. And what else will be left to be attained if a disciple gets blessed from his SadGuru on His incarnation day?
