May Shri (Goddess Lakshmi) grant
brilliance, long life and health.

Poverty is one of the most painful conditions that human beings can experience. It deprives a person not only of material comforts but often of dignity, confidence, education, healthcare, and opportunities for growth. Across civilizations, poverty has been viewed as a serious social and spiritual challenge. However, poverty is not merely the absence of money. It is often understood as Alakshmi or Daridrya, representing scarcity, disharmony, ignorance, sorrow, and misfortune. Conversely, Goddess Mahalakshmi embodies abundance, prosperity, beauty, righteousness, harmony, wisdom, and wellbeing.
The sacred texts teach that true prosperity consists not merely of accumulated wealth but of a harmonious life blessed with virtue, health, wisdom, family happiness, and spiritual fulfillment. The Vedic sages therefore prayed not only for riches but also for the removal of poverty in all its forms. The famous Shri Suktam, one of the most revered hymns dedicated to Lakshmi, expressly seeks the destruction of Alakshmi or misfortune and invites the presence of divine abundance.
Poverty is often measured by income levels, but we need to adopt a broader perspective. A poor person may suffer from lack of food and shelter, lack of education, poor health, social exclusion, mental stress, hopelessness and spiritual ignorance. In other words, poverty affects every aspect of life.
The Sanskrit term Daridrya refers to scarcity and deprivation. Such deprivation can manifest materially, emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually. The Hindu tradition recognizes that while external wealth is important, inner wealth is equally essential. A person possessing money but lacking peace, wisdom, or virtue is still impoverished in a deeper sense.
This is why Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped not merely as the giver of money but as the embodiment of Shri : auspiciousness, prosperity, beauty, moral excellence, success, and wellbeing. The Vedic concept of Shri encompasses fullness and abundance in every dimension of life.
Human dignity is fundamental to a meaningful life. A person struggling continuously for survival often loses selfcon fidence and social respect.Constant dependence upon others can lead to humiliation and despair. A householder should seek sufficient prosperity to support family, guests, charitable activities, and religious duties. Without resources, many of these obligations become difficult. The Vedic vision never glorifies involuntary poverty. Rather, it encourages righteous prosperity achieved through honest effort and divine grace.
Knowledge is considered sacred as per our holy texts. The Upanishads proclaim that ignorance is the root of suffering. Yet poverty often denies access to learning. Children from impoverished households frequently cannot pursue higher education and therefore struggle to escape the cycle of deprivation. Thus, poverty descends itself across generations. A society burdened by widespread poverty loses much of its creative and intellectual potential. Our own country has suffered a lot due to this very fact over last five hundred years.
The most obvious consequence of poverty is physical hardship. Insufficient nutrition, inadequate healthcare, unsafe housing, and difficult working conditions cause immense suffering. The Vedic prayer seeks not only wealth but also health and longevity.
Additionally, poverty produces anxiety and fear. Financial insecurity creates constant worry about necessities. Such stress affects relationships, productivity, and mental health. People burdened by debt and scarcity often find it difficult to focus on personal growth or spiritual practices. Thus, poverty becomes not merely a financial challenge but a psychological prison.
Although many sages lived simple lives, involuntary poverty can create severe obstacles to spiritual practice. The mind constantly occupied with hunger and survival finds it difficult to concentrate on meditation, study, worship, and self-reflection. For this reason our holy scriptures advocate a balanced life in which material stability supports higher spiritual aspirations.
Mahalakshmi: The Divine
Source of Prosperity
Goddess Lakshmi symbolizes – Wealth, Fortune, Beauty, Fertility, Generosity, Harmony, Success and righteous prosperity. She is often depicted seated upon a lotus, showering gold coins while elephants offer homage. These symbols represent prosperity rooted in purity and dharma rather than greed. One of the most powerful verses from the Shri Suktam directly addresses the destruction of poverty:
क्षुत्पिपासामलां ज्येष्ठामलक्ष्मीं नाशयाम्यहम्
अभूतिमसमृद्धिम् च सर्वां निर्णुद मे गृहात्
“Destroy Alakshmi, the embodiment of hunger, thirst, deprivation, and misfortune. Remove all poverty and shortcomings from my home.”
This verse demonstrates that Lakshmi’s grace is sought not merely for riches but for the removal of suffering, scarcity, and adversity.
Tantra: Best way to appease Goddess MahaLakshmi
Tantra is the most refined form of sadhanas. Any task which seems impossible via Mantra sadhanas, gets easily accomplished via the Tantra sadhana. Tantra sadhanas must always be performed with pious goals and with a pious soul. Tantra just don’t mean killing, hypnotizing and attracting, rather it means performing the tasks in compliance with the Shastras with good faith.
There is a common misconception that the moonless night of dark lunar phase of Kartik month is the only day to appease Goddess MahaLakshmi. Rather, Shastras didn’t just mention the moonless night of dark lunch phase of Kartik month as Diwali, rather they mentioned that the entire month is as favorable as Diwali to appease the Mother Goddess. Many sadhaks have performed thirty sadhana procedures during this month and have eradicated poverty in true sense.
Anyone who is determined to attain success, who has made up his mind to eradicate poverty from his life is bound to get success in the field of sadhanas.
Presented below are few very secret sadhanas related to Goddess Lakshmi. The sadhaks should perform all the three sadhanas and see the positive impact of these special sadhanas in their lives.
Matsyendranath’s Lakshmi Bound procedure
Guru Matsyendranath was an accomplished sadhak of Tantra and was to Guru of Guru Gorakhnath. His Lakshmi bounding procedure is a boon for the human race. This sadhana is performed on the eighth day of the Kartik’s dark lunar phase which is falling on 1st November this year.
Sadhana Procedure:
One needs Vardayak Lakshmi energized Ganesha idol for this procedure which must be energized with Matsyendranath’s Lakshmi Ganpati mantra. This sadhana must be performed early in the morning. Take a bath and get into fresh yellow clothes and sit on a yellow mat facing north.
Take a wooden plank and cover it too with fresh yellow cloth. Place a picture of Gurudev and worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flowers etc. Light a ghee lamp and an incense stick. Then chant one round of Guru Mantra and pray to Gurudev for success in sadhana.
Next, place Varvdayak Lakshmi energized Ganesha idol in front of Gurudev’s picture and bath it with water. Thereafter wipe dry and color it with saffron. Now offer some unbroken rice grains dyed in yellow color chanting Om Vardayak MahaLakshmi Namah for 108 time.
The sadhak needs exactly 108 flowers to perform this sadhana. One must ensure that the quantity of the flowers must be neither greater nor less than 108 flowers. Now take a flower in your right hand and chant the mantra below and then offer it on to the idol.
Mantra
Om Namo Vaital Dharani Gagan Bandhu,
Aathon Disha Nava Nath Bandhu, Lachhami
Ko Ghar Me Bandhu, Vaipar Chade, Gaja
Turang Badhe, Kanak Sarai, Sab Siddha
Hoya, Jo Na Ho, Rudra Ko Trishul Khandit
Hoya Tham Tham Tham.
Offering 108 flowers chanting the above mantra completes the sadhana procedure. Thereafter, the sadhak should join the hands and pray to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganpati to permanently reside in the home.
Then place the idol at your worship place or within your locker. If you are in business, place the idol where you keep your money.
Guru Gorakhnath’s Lakshmi Bound procedure
Guru Gorakhnath has mentioned this sadhana procedure to be extremely useful as all other procedures can go in vain but not this one. Anyone who has performed this sadhana with full faith and devotion has seen extraordinary outcomes in life. This sadhana is performed on the ninth day of the Kartik’s bright lunar phase which is falling on 18thNovember this year.
Sadhana Procedure:
One needs Kamakshi Chakra and Kamakshi rosary for this procedure. This sadhana must be performed during night after 9 pm. Take a bath and get into fresh yellow clothes and sit on a yellow mat facing north.
Take a wooden plank and cover it too with fresh yellow cloth. Place a picture of Revered SadGurudev & worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flowers etc. Light five oil lamps and an incense stick. Then chant one round of Guru Mantra with the rosary and pray to Gurudev for success in sadhana.
Now take a white paper and make the below Lakshmi bounding yantra with vermillion, sandalwood or saffron and offer unbroken rice grains and flowers on it.
Place the Lakshmi Kamakshi Chakra at the center of this yantra. Keep in mind that an already used Kamakshi Chakra must not be used in this sadhana procedure and the Kamakshmi Chakra used in this procedure must not be used in any other sadhana. Now offer water, vermillion, unbroken rice grains, flowers on Kamakshi Chakra and chant the mantra below with the Kamalgatta rosary. One also needs 108 flowers for this procedure and the sadhak should take a flower in the right hand, chant the mantra below twice and offer it on the Chakra. With this procedure, the sadhak is bounding the Lakshmi below and above the flower. Thus, the sadhak needs to chant 2 rounds of the below mantra.
Mantra

Base Lakshmi Maharani Aave Ghar Me Jam
Kar Baithe, Siddha Hoya, Mero Sab Karaj
Siddha Kare, Jo Chanun So Hoye Hreem

महारानी आवे घर में जम के बैठे सिद्ध होए मेरो
सब कारज सिद्ध करे जो चाहूं सो होए हृीं हृीं फट्।।
Sleep at the worship place after performing the sadhana. Ensure that an oil lamp and a ghee lamp remain lit throughout the night. Sadhak must write all his questions related to his financial problems like will it be beneficial to have business tie-up with the given person, or whether he should invest in the given shares etc. in a paper and keep that below the pillow before sleeping. The person will get some resolutions for his queries during night.
Put the Kamakshi Chakra within your locker or at the place where you keep your money. Fold the yantra made on the paper and put it within an amulet and wear it around your neck. This amulet will work as an unending source of abundant Lakshmi in your life.
