Ganesh Chaturathi: 02-September
Gauriputram Vinaayakam
Bhakataavaasam Smare Nityam
Aayush Kaamartha Siddhaye
Salutations to the Lord, who is the son of Gauri and He who resides deep in the heart of the devotees, blessing them always with good health and prosperity.
Lord Ganesha is always depicted in a state of peace and harmony. But did you know, Ganesha is also a source of learning? Yes, every body part of Ganesha’s body teaches us something. Each element of Ganesha’s body has its own significance.
Who wouldn’t love, adore, revere and worship such a deity, for He takes away all of our troubles, problems, pains and even poverty in life? There may exist a hundred different sects across all over India, yet when it comes to launching some venture all differences disappear as they choose first and foremost to supplicate to the dear Elephant-God, Lord Ganesha for His divine grace that would ensure success and fulfilment. No wonder an ancient text states –
Abheepsitaarth Siddharyartham Poojito Sah Suraasureih,
Sarva Vighna Harastasmei Gannaadhipataye Namah.
The Lord is the fulfiller of all the wishes. His grace removes all obstacles and impediments. He is the Divine provider of true knowledge, success in life, prosperity and all the spiritual powers. Thus all Gods, humans and even demons bow to Him.
What more He has numerous forms and one may choose to worship any of them – the Lord in a child form having a weakness for laddoos, in a furious form He is a terror for the enemies, in a pleasant form He is ready to bestow all boons of life and so on.
Besides these many forms, there are a variety of rituals some based on Mantra, some on Strotas and yet some on Tantra. Though their effectiveness cannot be doubted, yet complex and lengthy process makes them difficult, if not impossible, for a common man to accomplish. Presented below are few short yet highly effective sadhanas related to the benevolent Lord which must be performed to appease Him and get His blessings
There is a limit to talent and knowledge also. Every person tries his best to perform any task the best he can, but it is often seen that we don’t get the desired results. Either the task gets delayed or is left unaccomplished due to several difficulties, overcoming which are beyond the limits of a person. To nullify the ill-effects or to completely eradicate the troubles from one’s life, shastras recommends worshipping Lord Ganesha.
It is the duty of Lord Ganesh to banish all the obstacles and provide a smooth operation to this universe. He is the one who is the creator as well as destroyer of all the obstacles. For all the devils, he is the creator of the obstacles and for all those who worship Him, He is the destroyer of all the obstacles. Due to this reason, Lord Ganpati is also famous as Sarva Vighnaharan, Sarva KaamanaaPhalPrad, AnantaanantaSukhad and Sumangal Sumangala Pradata.
Ganpati bestows both knowledge and Nirvana. It is mentioned in “Brahmvaivarta Puran” that Ganpati is the only God who can provide fulfillment in all senses. Even in “Linga Puran” it is mentioned that all the Gods accepted the fact that to achieve completeness in life one must perform Var-Varad Vijay Shree Gam Sadhana.
One needs KamnaPhalPrad Ganpati Vigrah, two Var-Vardo Gutika and Ravan Kritya Swarna Khappar VijayShri for the sadhana. Get up early in the morning and take a bath. Wear white cloths and sit facing east or north. Take a wooden plank and cover it with a red cloth. Now place the picture of Gurudev and pray to Him, “O Gurudev ! Bless me to get success in this sadhana so that I may attain knowledge and live a happy family life with my family”. Now worship Him with lamp, incense, flower etc. and pledge to perform the sadhana.
Now take a copper plate and create a Swastik mark on it with vermillion. Now place KamnaPhalPrad Ganpati Vigrah in the plate. Now place one Var-Vardo Gutika on the left and other to the right of the idol. Now worship them with flowers, rice, lamp, etc. and chant 4 rounds of the following mantra with “Ravan Kritya Swarna Khappar VijayShri” rosary.
Mantra
|| Om Gam Varadaaya Sumangalaaya Sarva Vijayaaye Ganapataya Dharyaami Namah ||
।। ऊँ गं वरदाय सुमंगलाय सर्व विजयाये गणपतय धारयामि नमः।।
Now offer sweets (Laddus) to the Lord and perform Durga Arti. Feed sweet food to 11 female children and give them some money on the same day. This completes the sadhana procedure.
There is a form of Lord that assimilates all benefits of His other forms and this sadhana of His is so simple that even a child could achieve success in it effortlessly. This one day ritual would consume not more half hour yet manifest amazing results and can virtually transform one’s life and ring in a new phase of prosperity, affluence and success.
Maha Ganpati Sadhana is the wonderful ritual whose chief boon is riddance from generations of poverty. For a middle class family person this could be the golden opportunity of striking it rich, an opportunity that he or she might have been looking for ages. To those acquainted with religious rituals this should not come as a surprise, for Ganpati worship has always formed an important part of Lakshmi Sadhana.
Actually Lord Ganpati’s blessings are capable of bestowing both Bhog (worldly pleasures) and Moksh (spiritual attainments) on an individual. Sadhana of MahaGanpati aims at neutralizing all sins and evils of one’s past lives so as to make one eligible to enjoy wealth, prosperity and all pleasures in life to the fullest, thus paving the way for total fulfilment and ultimately spiritual elevation.
Following benefits surely accrue through this Sadhana:
One need Paarad Ganpati, Mangaldaayika and Yellow Hakeek Rosary for this sadhana. The best day to perform this sadhana is Ganesh Chaturathi but it can also be tried on any Wednesday. Early morning have a bath and wear yellow cloth. Sit on a yellow mat facing east. Cover a wooden seat with yellow cloth and the picture of Gurudev and pray to Him.
Akhanndda Mannddalaakaaram Vyaaptam Yena Charaacharam
Tatpadam Darshitam Yena Tasmai ShriGuruve Namah
Now worship Him with lamp, incense, flower etc. and pledge to perform the sadhana. Next take a plate and place a Paarad Ganpati on it. Now bath the Parad Ganpati with pure water, milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey and then again with pure water in the mentioned order chanting Om Ganeshaaya Namah . Wipe it dry with a clean cloth and place it in a separate plate on which a Swastik has been inscribed with vermillion.
Offer vermillion, unbroken rice, incense and Laddoos to the deity. Next make a mound of rice grains and on it place Mangaldaayika. Offer 108 fragrant flowers on it, each time chanting Om Ganeshaaye Namah. Now chant 5 rounds of the following mantra with a yellow Hakeek rosary.
Mantra
|| Om Gam Ganapataye Namah ||
।। ऊँ गं गणपतये नमः ।।
After 3 days drop Mangaldaayika and rosary in a river or pond. Keep the Paarad Ganpati in your worship place and light an incense daily before the Lord.
There is a saying that a human being without a wish is like an animal. We all have wishes and there is nothing wrong with it. Just dreaming or praying to God to fulfill a desire is something which can never fulfill it. One needs to put in conscious efforts in a particular direction to attain the goal. However, it has been observed that even after putting the best efforts, sometimes we are unable to attain our goal. If you have put in your best efforts, if you have not left any stone unturned, then you can really relate to such a frustrating situation. Under such a condition, Lord Ganesha again comes to rescue and this sadhana of Lord Ganesha ensures completion of the goal.
One needs Shwetarka Ganpati and Red Hakeek rosary. This sadhana can be performed at any time of day. This sadhana guarantees wish fulfilment if tried with full devotion. An idol of Lord Ganpati made of white Calotropis (Aak plant) is considered priceless and very difficult to attain. Placing such an idol of Lord Ganpati at home is considered very fruitful. No deficits can remain in a house which has an idol of Lord Ganpati in this form.
Take a bath and wear red cloth. Sit on a red mat facing east. Cover a wooden seat with red cloth. On it place a picture of Gurudev and worship Him with water, rice grain, sweets, vermillion etc. and then chant one round of Guru Mantra. Light a ghee lamp and an incense stick.
Now take the idol and bath it with pure water. Wipe dry the idol and then make a mark with saffron followed by a mark of red sandal paste to the Lord and then offer some jaggery. Offer 5 red colored flowers to the Lord speaking out your wish “I am performing this sadhana to fulfill my following wish”. In place of “following” you should speak out your wish. Now chant 51 rounds of the following mantra with the rosary.
Mantra
|| Om Antrikshaaya Swaahaa ||
।। ऊँ अन्तरिक्षाय स्वाहा ।।
The procedure doesn’t take more than 2 hours. However, if you can’t complete the sadhana in one day, you can spread out your sadhana duration to complete the mantra chanting in 5 days. One point to note here is that one must perform the complete procedure again if the sadhana is split across several days (maximum 5 days). It is also advised to chant equal number of rounds each day (say a person wishes to complete the mantra chanting in 3 days, then one must chant 17 rounds each day).
Invite a boy to your house and feed him some sweets made of jaggery and give him some money. Keep the idol of Lord Ganpati and rosary at your worship place or within your locker for next 21 days. Thereafter, drop the sadhana articles in a river and pond. This completes the sadhana and soon you will be left astonished to see how easily your wish has been completed which was not getting fulfilled even after putting your best efforts.
