Guru Poornima: 16th July
Comforts can only give worldly pleasures. If you have a good house, you will have fans, air conditioners, TV, music systems etc. in it. All these may provide comfort but they can’t give you eternal joy. Can a music system give you eternal joy? Can flying in an aircraft give you eternal joy? Eternal joy is a different thing; it is generated from within our body and comforts are generated by surrounding articles. A heater may give you comfort during winters but can it removes your tensions. If you are in a tension, then this comfort is useless.
We are in India and it is called a great nation. And in this country Akbar was called great, Alexander was called great, rest all kings were called emperors. “Great” word was used with only two-three people. Great Alexander looted all the small and big nations and took around two thousand elephants loaded with precious jewelerrey. He took with him at least ten thousand ladies from here to Greece.
It was all because he was a King, he was an attacker, because people over here were unable to face him. He was desirous of victory, he had a devastating nature and he had a feeling to become the richest person.
However when his end was near and he realized that he may die soon, then he called his General, the doctors and asked them, “How long am I going to live?”
Doctors replied, “My Lord! You are very near to your death. You may die in another three to four hours. Everyone that comes needs to go one day.”
He asked his General, “Bring here what all I have collected throughout my life.”
Piles of diamond were made, to other side pile of jewelries were made and to other side pearls and all precious stones were collected and near to him were standing twelve-thirteen thousand queens. Alexander lied there counting his last moments. He had to bend his neck completely to look at the pile of the diamonds….such huge collection….every single one priced over two to three lakhs…..you can imagine how much wealth he had !
He asked his General, “Is all this mine?”
The General replied, “Yes, my Lord! It’s all yours. You have brought all this from various countries. You have looted them all”.
“And what about these queens”?
“They also belong to you my Lord”.
He asked, “What will happen to me after I die”?
The General replied, “Nothing happens after the death my Lord. You will be tied to two bamboo shafts and will be covered by a shroud. Then you will be carried on four shoulders and finally you will be burnt in the mortuary”.
“Then what about all these”?
“These things never went with anyone, my Lord”.
“Then please listen to my last will, you have to do what I am telling you now.”
“Order me my Lord! I will fulfill your last wish. You are great, only you are the person who is associated with “great” word in this world.” replied the general.
“How is a man tied on to a bier?”, asked Alexander.
The general replied, “There is no big deal in it. The dead person is put on the bier and his hands and feet are kept straight. He is completely covered with a white cloth and then he is taken to the graveyard and is burnt there”.
Alexander replied, “When you tie me on the bier, let my hands remain out of it. Cover all my body with the shroud but don’t tie my hands”.
General replied, “My Lord! This has never happened before, hands are tied close to the body only and is covered with the shroud. You are asking me to do a new thing, how will it be executed”?
Alexander replied, “Execute my orders! This is my last wish that my hands should be set free and let them loll from the bier”.
General asked out of curiosity, “My Lord! There must be some reason as to why you want your hands to loll out of the bier”?
Alexander replied, “So that everyone and the coming generations should come to know that even such Great Alexander is going empty handed.”.
If Alexander the Great went empty handed, it is a guaranteed that you all will also go empty handed only. He was unable to take anything with himself, so even we can’t take anything with us……when we can’t take anything with ourselves, then all these things are useless.
This money is useless then what should we take away with us….what should we take….and how to take that….neither we can take wife nor sons….if no one can go with us, then who will go with us? When we have to travel alone, then why all these stuff? Then why all these deceptive means? Why are we so much inclined to grow our four lakhs to five lakhs?
If your son is good, he will himself earn a better living, if not he will waste all that you give him. If your son is good, he will not need your money and will himself earn five lakhs; if not, he will waste your money in just a week.
Alexander the Great has just said one thing (you may read it in the history of Greece) – I obtained everything in my life, but eternal joy. Instead of this, if I would have devoted my time to attain eternal joy, if I would have meditated and attained the divinity, which a common man can’t, then I would have lived my last moments in great satisfaction. There would have been a smile on my face, on my lips but instead there are tears in my eyes. My heart is full of repentance that I have just collected stones in my life, instead of collecting what I should have collected in my life.
Alexander the Great left this world but he set an example that you can’t get eternal joy by singing hymns, going to temple, joining your hands and sitting with your eyes closed. These are ways to fool ourselves. If you go to a temple and you are thinking that you have to take four thousand rupees from some person and you will travel through that path today. Now before the idol in the temple you will pray to that, “O Lord! Such and such person has taken my four thousand rupees since such a long duration and is not returning now. Please favor me and grant him the wisdom so that he returns my money today. I will definitely offer a sacrament of five rupees to you”.
Now to get back four thousand rupees, you have offered five rupees to the Lord….thinking there is no loss in this venture….this money is already stuck and if by just giving five rupees your goal is accomplished, then what is the trouble in this. Now you can yourself understand the motive behind going to the temple. I am talking about the intentions of majority of people sitting here.
This is not a way of forgetting oneself, but everyone talks about it….but how can we forget ourselves? How can we attain eternal joy? Which is the path to attain eternal joy, no one has told us? Everyone has told you that you need to attain eternal joy, even I am telling you that you have to attain eternal joy. After one hour, I will also go away. Then you will think that Guru Ji has spoken such words of wisdom and even I will think that I have told them about achieving eternal joy.
However, none has guided you the path travelling which you can attain eternal joy in your life. You are left with no option but to search for in the dark. I am also giving you darkness, what all these saints have given you, that go to temple and see the idol of Lord Ram and then demolish a mosque and construct a temple over that and after doing this Lord Ram will appear before you.
Lord Ram will not appear before you like this, no other God will appear before you like this and neither you will be able to reach near him. The reason for this is there is a gap between you two. There is a link between you and me. If I remove this link, then I can’t reach you and till the time the Guru doesn’t tell you the means to travel on this path, you can’t reach near to the Lord and if you can’t get near to the Lord, you will never achieve eternal joy in your life.
I wish you that may you find a true Guru in your life who can let you know the path of divinity and eternal joy. I am inviting you all to come and amalgamate yourself into me on this pious day of Guru Poornima. I bless you all so that all of you may become complete, away from all the deceits and divine in life. I bless you all once again from the depth of my heart.
