Guru Poornima: 5th July
Sa Sukhodbhavaa Dukha Sadaiv Chintyam.
There is no major difference between animals and human beings. What all activities are performed by the human race, the same are performed by animals also. Animals breathe and so do humans, animals eat and so do humans. Animals give birth to their children and so do humans. Animals also die after completing their duration and so do humans. The only difference between animals and humans is that animals can’t think of getting up early and abut pray to God, they don’t have the wisdom to think about what activities they should do and what not. It is only a human, who has been blessed of this wisdom, to think how he can enlighten his life.
One can enlighten his life only with the help of this wisdom, following which even a simple person can achieve totality in life, even a simple man can become a God. A simple man can witness the aura of God, he can become divine and this is the base of life. If we can’t see the true form of God then this is a waste of life.
However, the same thing has been told by hundreds of people before me. I am not telling something new to you. Even they said that a human must witness a God in his life and I am also saying the same thing to you, then what is the difference?
The difference is between saying and performing. If we say that recite “Ram-Ram” and God Ram will appear before you, then this is not going to happen, never. If we say that we have to eat and just by saying that we have eaten, our stomach won’t get filled, this is not possible. For that we need to cook the food and have to eat it, we need to perform all these activities, mere speaking won’t work.
Just by chanting and meditating, we can’t see the true form of God in life, though we may get mental peace. However there is a great difference between the two. When we practice meditation and we say that we are to meditate then this is our shortfall, this is our weakness, this is our arnagame that we can meditate but in reality you are unable to meditate.
Meditation means that we should even forget our existence. We should forget that we are sitting, we should forget ourselves, get completely drowned, we should not hear anything or whether any sound is coming from the kitchen. If something like this happens, then only one should consider that he in meditate else not.
Our sages, yogis, saints have advice people to perform meditation, to recite mantras, Ram-Ram, but no practical procedure ever came before you till now……right now you are thirty five years old and just thinking on this you will grow older by fifty years and then by seventy five years and finally you will die. If you think that we have chanted “Ram-Ram” and we also went to the temple…but these are just the base, we have to travel the path on which we can achieve totality in life.
If we don’t understand what the meaning of totality is, then we can’t even achieve it. If we have to go to Cannaught Place and we don’t know the path, we can’t reach there, rather we will reach Karol Bagh. We have to go to Cannaught Place and we don’t know the path. All these saints have told you that you have to reach Cannaught Place, you will find peach there. But none of them have told you the path to reach there. Till the time you don’t know the way you can’t achieve totality in life, you can’t reach Cannaught Place, you can’t see the God…..and till the time you don’t see the God, you can’t amalgamate yourself….and till the time you can’t amalgamate you can’t achieve totality in life.
It is mentioned in Ishaavaasyopanishad that we are complete and after amalgamating in the complete form (God), we can become complete. Lord has given us a complete form, we have two eyes, nose, ears, hands, legs, there is no shortfall, however when this completeness amalgamates with that completeness (God), then only we can achieve totality in life.
This is an incomplete totality; you can’t achieve totality in life just by listening to what I say. Till the time you don’t practically perform what I say, you can’t achieve totality in life. And when you achieve totality, you will be able to see the one whom the shashtras refers as Brahma, Krishna, Ram, Buddha, Mahavir…..what all names they have been given. We can achieve totality if we are able to amalgamate ourselves into them.
I went to Mauritius, some fifteen-twenty years back. There was a sacrificial for world peace. I met a Sadhaka businessman to going to Mauritius at his home. I asked him, “Are you fine?” and blessed him.
He replied, “Guru Ji! All is fine. However, I am facing some financial issues. Please take about that, rest all is fine”.
Now if he is facing financial issues, then we are also facing the same.
What should I tell you Guru Ji, I am unable to sleep.
I replied, “Go to the market and buy it in two-three lakhs”.
He said, “Guru Ji, how can money buy sleep?”
I replied, “Yes, you can’t buy and if you can’t buy then what is the use of this money? If you can’t buy sleep, then what can you buy from money? The whole night he rolls on the bed and then takes 2-3 tranquil and still he can’t sleep properly and he gets awake by 6:00 am.
We are far more happier than him…..the reason for this is that we are able to sleep by 8 in the night, we don’t have to buy the sleep through money….you can’t buy sleep through money. You can’t buy hunger through money, you can’t buy good health through money. You can’t buy God through money…..and even by a beautiful body. You are very beautiful, use have applied cream and powder on your face. Gods will not get appeased by that !
All these are waste. Is there anything by which we can attain joy in life. We have already tested that these things can’t give us joy. If he is facing financial issues, when he is unable to sleep and if we are having a sound sleep then this proves that we are happier than him, we are not having that much tension and still he wants to see the God.
I asked him, “What do you do to witness the Divine”?
He replied, “I have got a temple constructed in the home. You can understand Guru Ji that I don’t have much time, still , I go to the temple.”
Poor he, he goes to the temple every day and we come here with joy every day. We come and sit here by our own wish and he goes to the temple under obligation.
I don’t mean to say that there is a shortfall in him what I mean to say here is that worldly pleasures can’t give us true joy in life. They can just give us satisfaction…..it is just a satisfaction that last year I had four lakhs rupees and now I have four lakhs and fifty thousand that’s all. You have accumulated fifty thousand by cheating, by your lies, tricks or whichever way and after earning……
Till now you have been wearing eight-nine clothes and now since you have five lakhs you should start wearing ten-twelve clothes because you have accumulated one more lakh this year. Previously you were eating four chapattis and now you should eat fifteen-twenty chapattis. However, you will still eat four chapattis and wear four clothes only whether you have twenty lakhs or fifty lakhs. Then what is the need to practice for all these treacherous means, when they just result in tensions and troubles in your life.
The main aim of our life, Shashtras, Upnishads, Vedas, Purans, your father’s, your forefather’s and everyone else is to achieve true joy in our life. There is a difference in joy and pleasure. If you buy a fan in summers and use it, it will give you pleasure. Joy is something different, joy is that you are sleeping merrily even if the fan is not operating. If there is cold and still you are enjoying it, sit merrily, whether you have warm clothes or not then it is a true joy.
Poornamadah Poornamidam, Poornaatpoornmadachyate.
Poornasya Poornamaadaaya, Poornmevaavashishyate
“I am complete and want to amalgamate in the completeness”…..and I am explaining to you that you are complete. All of you are standing before me to attain completeness. What is important is that you should be standing at the point from which you need to jump. The moment you jump you will reach the ocean and the ocean is waiting for you with its arms open wide to hug you and to amalgamate you within because I am always with you.
You don’t have to worry as I am there with you. I guarantee that I will take you to the true eternal joy. I bless you all that may you all reach immortality in this life only. I wish you that may you find a true Guru in your life and achieve the totality of life. I bless you all so that all of you may become divine in life and achieve the true joy.
The Guru is the awakened God, awakening the sleeping God in the disciple. Through sympathy and deep vision, a true Guru sees the Lord suffering in the physically, mentally, and spiritually poor, and that is why he feels it his joyous duty to assist them. He tries to feed the hungry God in the destitute, to stir the sleeping God in the ignorant, to love the unconscious God in the enemy, and to waken the half asleep God in the yearning devotee. And by a gentle touch of love, he instantaneously arouses the almost fully awakened God in the advanced seeker. The Guru is, among all men, the best of givers. Like the Lord Himself, his generosity knows no boundaries.
Guru Kije Jaani Ke, Pani Peeje Chaani,
Bina Vichare Guru Kare, Pare Chaurasi Khani.
We have to choose Guru very carefully and wisely. If we make someone our Guru without properly knowing about the Guru, then one has to again go through the life and death cycles of the 84 lacs species to get this human form.
Mother gives the first birth to a child. We come into the world through the mother. But second birth is through the Guru. The master delivers you the knowledge and skill. We all play the role of teacher, guide, Guru, but when the a spiritual knowledge is so total, that one is called Sathguru. An Acharya (teacher) gives knowledge and Guru gives ieight of awareness and makes you alive. Acharya gives information; Guru gives intelligence, an awakened intelligence.
Guru is a tatva — an element, a quality inside you. It is not limited to a body or a form. Guru is too big for you to make. Guru comes in your life in despite spite of your refusing or rebelliousness. Don’t struggle to make a Guru. Just relax. Wake up and see. Feel grateful. Give all your garbage to the Guru and be free. Guru makes gold out of garbage. It is easy to make that change because everyone is made up of that one thing.
I once again bless you all from the depth of my heart.
