Lord Hanuman needs no introduction. He is a well known God not only in India but all over the world. There are numerous examples which shows the greatness of Lord Hanuman. If one looks carefully at the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman is as great a character as Lord Ram. This shows that how much a disciple can grow by serving his Guru. Lord Hanuman is a symbol of strength, presence of mind, devotion, perseverance etc. His traits can broadly be categorized as follows:
It won’t be wrong to say that Hanuman was the embodiment of selflessness. He dedicated a major part of his youth to Lord Rama and Maa Sita, and went down in history as their most devout follower. He was fiercely loyal and accompanied Lord Rama throughout. Also, despite his physical prowess and supernatural abilities, he was quite humble and was always seen with folded hands. These qualities make Hanuman the most renowned of devotees to ever have existed. Also, Laxman was lying unconscious in the battlefield and the herb that could cure him was not available, he came forward to bring that herb from Himalayas. In the hurry when Hanuman could not trace that magical herb he lifted the whole hill and flew to battlefield. The arrow that had wounded Laxman was blessed in the way that whoever was wounded in the night with it could not recover if the cure was not obtained before daylight.
Hanuman was determined to bring it before sun rise. However, the powerful Ravana compelled the sun to arise on the mountain at midnight. Hanuman being enraged at this conspiracy, leaped up and seizing sun’s chariot placed the blazing God under his arm and put the mountain on his head. Only after the application of the herb on the wound of Laxman, Hanuman permitted the sun to depart.
The physical and mental strength of Hanuman probably need no mention. He killed many powerful demons all alone. He also helped Rama to win over the battle. He also lifted the entire mountain and brought it from Himalayas to Lanka. And all that in just one night. He could fly at any speed and even possessed the power to swallow sun. A normal person can’t even look at sun during day time, Lord Hanuman considered the sun as a fruit and ate it. Ravana’s guards, while he was in Lanka, had succeeded in catching Hanuman, who was then brought to the demon-king’s court. At Ravana’s command his tail was set on fire and with his burning tail Hanuman created a great havoc in Lanka.
The persistence to find Sita and to curb his ‘Lord’s’ miserable state, made Hanuman the hero. Lord Rama needed Hanuman the most during those trying times. Having dedicated his whole existence in finding Sita, he braved several hurdles to ultimately reach Lanka and find Sita. He offered to help her escape but she refused, saying Ram’s honor is at stake and she wouldn’t risk that at any cost. Hanuman then went back to Ram and eventually set Lanka on fire with his tail.
Even in the most testing of times, Hanuman made it a point to maintain his sense of humour. For example, the time when he got himself intentionally captured by Ravana’s son Indrajit, only to gauge the latter ‘s strength. Or the time when he was threatened with having his tail set on fire and he started to increase its length.
He shape-shifted, lifted mountains and used his tail to burn down Lanka. Hanuman’s practicality and ability to focus on the task at hand might as well be a hero in itself. His war-winning tactics and tricks, more often than not, saved the lives and honor of many. Once when he was around 10 years old, he was swallowed by a monster. Then he expanded his body and the monster had to vomit him out.
On another occasion when one monster put Hanuman in his mouth, this God transformed himself into a very small figure and emerged out of this monster’s big ear. It happened when Lord Hanuman was on his flight to Ravana’s Lanka on his job assigned by Ram, a female-demon named Sursa saw that this monkey was going to harm her near relative, Ravana. So in an effort to save her cousin she wished to swallow Lord Hanuman. To avoid this, Hanuman continued expanding his body, while she continued stretching her mouth till it was a hundred leagues wide. Suddenly Hanuman shrank his body and within seconds he got transformed to thumbsized.
Taking the female demon by surprise he darted forward and came out through her right ear. These are the reason why Lord Hanuman is an ideal God for everyone. One who seeks strength, one who seeks wisdom, one who seeks presence of mind, one who seeks winning over evil spirits or hard times, one who wishes to keep the ill effects of Lord Saturn at bay worships Lord Hanuman. One God who can provide all that one wishes for in life.
We all need the divine power of Lord Hanuman in our life. What great can a person can attain in life if he or she gets blessed with the powers of Lord Hanuman. Undoubtedly, no one can win over such a person who has been graced by Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Sadhana has been considered to be the most effective for curing any disease or to win over troubles. One who wishes to assimilates the power of Lord Hanuman should sit at a silent place and chant aloud the mantra “HUM” with full force for just five minutes. Doing it for just a few days can bring a charm in your personality.
Hanuman which should be practiced after taking Sarva Badha Nivaran Hanumat Diksha. One needs energized picture of Lord Hanuman, Hanuman yantra and Bajrang rosary. This Sadhana should be started after 10pm from any Tuesday. This Sadhana can also be performed on behalf of someone. One must maintain celibacy during Sadhana days. One should also avoid usage of fragrant articles in Hanuman Sadhana. If possible, one must just consume fruits and milk during Sadhana days and talk as less as possible.
Take a bath and get into fresh red clothes. Sit on a red mat facing East. Take a wooden plank and cover it too with a fresh red cloth. Place a picture of revered Gurudev and worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Chant one round of Guru Mantra and seek His divine blessings for success in Sadhana. Next place a picture of Lord Hanuman next to Gurudev’s picture. Make a mound of rice grains and place the yantra over it. If possible, offer a red colored flower to Lord Hanuman and then a mixture of jaggery and ghee. Next chant just one round of the below mantra with the Maha Bahu rosary.
Continue to chant one round of the mantra for next two days. Wear the rosary around your neck after three days and offer the yantra along with some money as a secret donation to someone. If you are unable to find any such person, offer the yantra at Lord Hanuman’s temple. One can even get rid of any disease caused due to ill effect of spirits by means of this Sadhana.
