Cremation ground was getting awakened to its youthfulness. The night of a fearsome Amavasya’s night and it was utter darkness all around and it appeared as if it will swallow everything. This place was none other than BanGanga which is very famous among Aghoris and Kapaliks. It is the alluring garden where all the Ten Mahavidhyas stroll around during the night. Goddess Tara wears garland of head, Shodashi performs Her childish activities, it is the place to gain success in Sadhanas of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, Goddess Chhinnamasta dance on this ground, Goddess Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi and Matangi walk on this ground and it appears as if Goddess MahaKali resides here along with Lord MahaKaal in Her most complete form.
In fact, cremation ground has its own weird Maya, it sleeps when the entire world remains awake, however, as night falls and the entire world falls into deep sleep, then this place gets activated and one more person gets awakened – Aghori, Tantrik!
Somewhere far away, a sound was energizing the entire cremation ground and it seemed to be originating from the center. A Tantrik was sitting in front of a lit pyre and was reciting Goddess Kali’s hymns. He appeared like any normal Aghori, however, there was a subtle confidence along with an indescribable softness on his face. What sort of Aghori or Tantrik he was? Going a little closer to him disclosed his identity – He is none other than the famous Kapal Shankar, greatest among the Aghoris, revered by Kapalik, the Great Kapal Shankar….then for sure, he must be here to fulfill some great aim. Undoubtedly, he must be here to attain success in Ashta Kali Sadhana.

Activating Kali against Her wish is like throwing oneself before a hungry lion, however some people do get success in attaining such a feat and this guy Kapal Shankar….he has made up his mind to appease all the eight forms of Goddess Kali in a single shot…is he out of his mind? He is not in his sense, is he unaware that inviting all the eight forms of Goddess Kali is equivalent to inviting death? Can’t he see Yama trap all around him? For sure, this guy has guts and a great resolve….however, it doesn’t mean that one should play with fire…it is just few days back that Kapalik Brajeshwar lost his life just because of his stubbornness….he was engrossed in inviting Goddess Kali due to his stubbornness.
“Not only you, even your father will come, you have wandered a lot. Come now, Mahakaal is calling you…”. These were the arrogant words and thoughts of Brajeshwar while inviting Goddess Kali. Why were you so egoistic Brajeshwar that you had to die at such an early age? Within a moment, the body of the Kapalik burst into thousands of pieces and scattered around. Goddess Kali has included his head into Her garland and was laughing ferociously.
On the other hand, Kapal Shankar was reciting Kalikaashtak with full devotion. Today is the last day of the Sadhana and Amavyasya is about to get over. This Sadhana was a full one month Sadhana, from Amavyasya till next month’s Amavyasya. A tough Sadhana for an entire month…full of various challenges and tests. He has been tested a lot during all these days…however, Kapal Shankar kept his cool and remained involved in the Sadhana.
Several forms of the spirits appeared before him on the fifteenth night of the Sadhana…however, he was an Avadhoot so these spirits couldn’t harm him. They tried to frighten him in several ways, but for Kapal Shankar it was all a comedy show….for a moment he got carried away in this show, then recollected himself and took some water in his right palm and sprinkled it around himself chanting a mantra. Within a few seconds, all these spirits disappeared with a great fright and shouts. It was all silent again!
Thereafter, Kapal Shankar continued his Sadhana with full dedication. Everyday, one or another challenge appeared before him. As a great Siddha, Kapal Shankar ignored all of them and continued with the Sadhana. The twenty ninth night of the Sadhana is the most challenging one. If Kapal Shankar is still involved in the Sadhana, then he must have passed that test too. On this night, sixty four Yoginis, who are the servant of Goddess Mahakali, appear before the Sadhak in their most beautiful and attractive form. They try to allure the Sadhak via their dance or speeches. “Shankar! Why are you wasting your life uselessly? Leave all this, I am offering my body to you.”
Someone else said, “Kapal! I will make you the most handsome man of this world. Then both of us will forever enjoy together.” Third said, “I can provide you unending wealth, name, prosperity and whatever you want in life. Why are you so adamant on losing your life? You just ask for anything, we will bestow that on you.”
However, it was Kapal Shankar’s virtuous determination that he remained engrossed in his Sadhana and didn’t falter. Sexual arousal even breaks down Gods, however, this Sadhak has something different in him, he is someone special. After trying all their tricks and failing miserably, all of them disappeared saying “Sahdu Kapal, Shankar Sadhu”.
The last night’s procedure was also about to complete and Kapal Shankar is heading towards success at a decent pace. Suddenly, a great explosion happens and its smoke all around and a strange pungent smell fills the entire surrounding. A penetrating voice of a woman emerged, “Foolish man! Why are you so stubborn? Don’t you value your life? Leave your stubbornness and run away, don’t agitate me.”__
Kapal Shankar was quick to understand that it is neither spirits nor Yoginis or Bhairava or Bhairavi. This sweet sound can only be of Goddess Mahakali. He immediately joined his palm and said, “Mother! It is a child’s right to be stubborn. If he leaves stubbornness, how will the mother pay attention towards him….I am sorry if my stubbornness has distressed you, but I can’t take it any more….Mother! Please appear before me in your most beautiful form.”, and tears started to flow out of his eyes. “Stop at this very moment you moron, else I will sacrifice you and tie your head within my garland. I am giving you the last chance else I will eat you.”, the sound emerged from the distance.
Kapal continued to cry like a child, his voice is distorted due to hiccups – “There can be no greater fortune than this if you want to eat me. But mother, why do you take this pain? I will myself offer my head in your feet.”
“Then why don’t you do it”, the voice again emerged and a huge sword fell before Kapal Shankar. He picked the sword and was about to behead himself when a lady quickly held his hand and threw the sword away. Eight forms of Goddess Kali emerged out of Her – Dakshin Kali, Sparshmani Kali, Kaamkala Kali, Hans Kali, Guhya Kali….and then they all disappeared into Her body. The Goddess standing before Kapal Shankar is none other than the prime Goddess of the cremation ground, Goddess Mahakali.
Kapal Shankar was self-overwhelmed and fell in the holy feet of Goddess shouting “Mother, Mother! You are so beautiful, full of softness and love.”
“Dear Kapal! The day a mother will accept the sacrifice of her son, the entire Brahmaand will come to an end. Brajeshwar died due to his own evil intentions, his aim was insignificant. Anyhow, he will be able to attain me in his next life. I am extremely happy with you. You have forced me to come before you….the only way to win over a mother is by becoming her son. I will always stay with you, whenever you will call me, I will come. For sure, you are a blessed soul Kapal. This is definitely the virtue of your Guru that you got this opportunity to witness me in this form, which is the most secret and invaluable form. You go now and roam freely around this world”, and the Goddess disappeared after blessing Kapal Shankar.
Kapal Shankar is still into deep meditation, palms still joined and continue to praise the Mother Goddess. Presented below is a shorter yet equally effective way to appease the Goddess which is also easier for the household Sadhaks. Anyone who attains success in Goddess Mahakali Sadhana, is blessed with all the materialistic pleasures and spiritual upliftment. Such a person doesn’t live an uncontended life.
Sadhana Procedure:
This Sadhana can be started on the day of Goddess Kali Jayanti or on any Amavasya or Saturday. One needs AshtaKali Yantra and Black Hakeek rosary for this Sadhana. One also needs vermillion, sindoor, unbroken rice, flower garland, incense stick, oil lamp, fruit and sweets made of milk. One must ensure that no one else should enter into your worship place during the Sadhana.
Have a bath and wear black Clothes . Sit on a black mat facing south. Take a wooden plank and cover it with a black cloth. Place a picture of Gurudev and worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Light an incense stick and an oil lamp. Chant one round of Guru Mantra and seek His blessings for the success in Sadhana. Also meditate on the form of Lord Ganpati and pray Him to remove all the hurdles.
Now place AshtaKali Yantra in front of Gurudev’s picture and worship it with rice grains, flowers, vermillion, sindoor and offer fruits and sweets. Next pray to Goddess Kali to remove all the fears from your life and to bless you. Take the rosary now and chant 51 rounds of the below mantra.
Offer a black pepper seed onto the Yantra chanting the above Mantra, then repeat this process for 10 more times. This process will remove all the troubles, enemies, tensions and will provide fearlessness in life. Offer the Sadhana articles in a river or pond the next day.
