Lord Shiva is the provider of all the worldly pleasures, may it be wealth, health, good life partner, name & fame, prosperity & what not. Not only this, Lord Shiva is also the provider of Nirvana, the ultimate goal of any human being. Lord Shiva is called as Bhole Bhandari, meaning He is the simplest God and gets pleased quickly by the worship of His devotees.
Presented below are a few Tantrokt Sadhanas of Lord Shiva which were performed by great figures of our ancient times. All these sadhanas are as effective as they were at that time. Sadhaks must try them & see the positive outcomes of these sadhanas. What day can be better than Maha Shivaratri to attain what all we wish for in life from Lord Shiva?
As per the scriptures, the universe was born of the body of the Kaal Purush or Adi Purush. From the mind of the Divine was born Moon, from his eyes was born sun, life energy from ears, beauty from hair & fire from mouth. From his navel was born the universe, sky from his head, earth from his feet & all directions from his ears.
The Divine assumed the form of Hirnyagarbh & established true values on earth & created the five elements – air, water, earth, fire & ether. From the planets & stars was born the science of determining the future i.e. astrology. From the seasons were born festivals & various auspicious activities.
From the soul of the Divine, man & all other creates were born. When a person goes against the natural laws of planets & stars, then diseases are born. Birth & death are the two ends of the life cycle. The cycle starts with birth & ends with the death. Lord of Death, Yamraj is the son of Sun & Saturn, who represents sorrows in life is also the son of Sun.
From sorrows, pain, ignorance, anger, fear & lust are born hundreds of diseases. To destroy these ailments, Lord Shiva assumed the form of Mahamrityunjaya. Lord Rudra represents both joy & sorrow in life. As Rudra he cures & punishes for one’s sins & in the form of Rudra he also blesses one with joys & longevity.
Comforts in human life are signified by the planet Jupiter. Jupiter is also the significator of knowledge. This planet is related to the memory center in the human brain. It also signifies divine consciousness. If it aspects a planet that might be the cause of ailments one becomes free of the diseases. The Guru of demons or passion i.e. Venus, forms the background for development of Samskars. He makes an individual indulge in pleasures & thus keeps the world moving in a vicious cycle. Mercury encourages these tendencies of Venus.
Mars along with Venus makes a person indulge in sins. Under the influence of Venus, even Saturn forgets its duty to punish a person for his sins. One gains wealth & prosperity as a result of the good deeds of the past birth & this effect is manifested by Jupiter. And it is Venus that induces a person to spend his money on pleasures. Due to the knowledge bestowed by Jupiter, one develops a good memory for science & also the power of eloquence.
Eloquence is also ruled by Mercury. Thus, eloquence is related to both Jupiter & Mercury. It is in fact stated that Mercury is the illegitimate son of Jupiter & this is why Mercury feels inimical towards Jupiter. But Mercury is friendly towards Venus. Mercury was born when moon copulated with the wife of Jupiter. If Mercury is in the ninth house, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter in the horoscope, one becomes indebted towards one’s parents. A wise person has control over his tongue, & he is able to ward off the influence of Venus. But Maya (delusion) represented by Moon makes the mind represented by Mercury, pervert. This is why evil continues to exist in the world. If Saturn had not been so easily swayed by Venus, then it would have destroyed all evil and made every person an ascetic. Even Lord Shiva, was compelled by the pleadings of Rati to revive Kaamdev after he had turned Kaamdev into ashes by the fierce power of His third eye. The link between knowledge (Jupiter), Maya (Moon) & pleasures (Venus) is Mercury. The universe has been created limiting (effect of Mercury) the infinite represented by Jupiter.
Jupiter takes care of one’s physique according to one’s past good deeds and the control one has over one’s tongue.
However, if Mercury is situated in the ninth house, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter, then it creates the problem of Pitra Rinn (indebtedness towards the parents). If such a combination is present in the horoscope, then the course of life of a person is not determined by the ordinary rules of Astrology. Determining the Pitra Rinn and paying it off is the only way through which such a person can get free from the problems of life.
Jupiter is the significator of sky element & of diseases like obesity, ailments of the stomach, cough, etc. If situated in the sixth house, Jupiter makes one suffer from eye problems. Venus represents wealth & Jupiter represents knowledge. It is stated in the ancient tests, Vishnu Bhrigu, that where there is Lakshmi, there will not be knowledge & where there is knowledge, there will not be wealth. This is what happens normally in the world.
Hence, when Venus is in the ninth house, in burdened by Pitra Rinn. The individual has to suffer the consequences of the sins of his ancestors. The rules of Karma state that a person has not only to experience the effect of deeds of past lives, rather he also has to experience effect of the deeds of his ancestors.
In the twelfth house, Venus is very auspicious & if situated in the twelfth sign, Pisces, then the individual indulges a lot in pleasures. If Jupiter too is in this house or with the lord of the twelfth hous e , then one suffe r s f rom s eve r e constipation. Association with Saturn worsens the situation. Jupiter creates trouble for the house in which it is situated. For example, if situated in ascendant Aries, the individual suffers from problems in the feet specially if Mars is in the twelfth house or Pisces. If Jupiter is affected by Saturn or Jupiter & Saturn are together in the ascendent, then the individual suffers from frequent wounds in the feet & there might even be loss of lower limbs. Jupiter is the ascendent in Aries also makes digestion weak.
If Jupiter is in ascendent Taurus or Leo & Mercury is in fifth house, then the individual suffers from skin problems. Similarly, if Jupiter is in ascendent in Taurus or Leo & Mercury is in 3rd, 6th and 8th or 12th house affected by malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, then too one suffers from skin diseases. Sex power is weakened if Jupiter is in Capricorn or Aquarius in the ascendent. If Jupiter is in Aquarius, then one suffers from child related problems. Jupiter in Capricorn in the twelfth brings constipation. Jupiter in Gemini in ascendent makes one suffer in the childhood.
If the ascendent is Virgo or Libra and Jupiter is positioned there, then the individual is cunning, & the family of the individual has to suffer a lot. If Jupiter is situated in ascendent & Sun, Mars aspect it then one suffers from blood disorders. If Jupiter, Sun & Ketu are together in any house except the fifth, one suffers from blood disorders & digestion problems. If Jupiter & Rahu are together in the ascendent or the Lord of ascendent is in eighth house, then one suffers from Hydrocele. If Jupiter, Sun or Ketu are together, then one suffers from Thyroid problem. If Jupiter is in ascendent & Mars is in the seventh house, then one suffers from madness. If Jupiter, Venus & Mars are together, then the Pancreas gland is affected.
If Jupiter is in the second house & affected by Mercury, then the individual loses all his wealth in getting medical treatment. Those born in Aries or Virgo ascendent generally have this experience. If Jupiter is in second house in Libra, the person becomes immoral. One also has no happiness from children & one is not married to the right person.
If Jupiter is in Virgo in the second house, one becomes poor. If Rahu has any influence over Jupiter, one suffers from stomach related problems. If Jupiter is in second house in Leo, then too one suffers from this problem. If Jupiter is in second house in Scorpio & Mars and Rahu are in eighth house, then one suffers from ailments of anus. Jupiter is auspicious if it is situated in Sagittarius, but if Jupiter is in second house, then one suffers from digestive problems. But if Jupiter is in Capricorn in the second house, then one has long life. In the second house Jupiter in Aquarius, makes one suffer from anal diseases. The problem is aggravated if Rahu, Mars & Saturn influence Scorpio or eighth house.
In the third house, Jupiter makes that house the cause of a person’s death. Such an individual could earn wealth by illegal means or violence. But if affected by Mercury, one becomes poor. If Jupiter in the third house is with Satrun, or Mars, one has to even go to jail. If Jupiter is in third house in Libra, on suffers from back problems. Also, if Sun & Mars aspect the seventh house, then one suffers from kidney problems & back pain. In the third house, Jupiter in Virgo curtails one’s life. If Saturn aspects Jupiter in third or fourth house, one has extra marital relationship. A strong Jupiter in the third house makes on immoral. On the other hand, Jupiter in in an inimical sign in the third house makes one moral. If Jupiter in the fourth house is influenced by Saturn, then one suffers from various physical ailments.
If Jupiter is in the sixth house & influenced by Mars, one suffers from kidney problems. In this house, Jupiter in Scorpio make one wounded by enemies. In the sixth house in Cancer, Jupiter make one suffer from back problems. In Gemini in the sixth house, Jupiter makes one never suffer from eye problems. However, such a person is always in a danger of being attacked by the enemies. If Jupiter is in Leo in sixth house, one’s death might be caused by enemies. The situation becomes grave if there is influence of Rahu, Mars & Saturn. One then also has to suffer from fear of poison & snakes. If Saturn aspects such a Jupiter, one’s death could be caused by drinking poison or snake bite. In this house, the same effect is caused by Jupiter in Capricorn. In the sixth house, Jupiter in Aquarius causes sexually transmitted diseases.
If Jupiter is in seventh in Scorpio or Capricorn, then one suffers from cancer, piles, sores etc. If this combination is in Aries, then one has to suffer from fear from the state side. One also gains a tendency to steal & defraud others. If Jupiter is in seventh in Taurus or Libra, one spends a lot on prostitutes. But if Jupiter is in signs of Mercury, one is very moral. If Jupiter is in Gemini, then one becomes uninterested in the world & becomes an ascetic. If Saturn & moon are together in any house, then this tendency becomes even stronger.
If Jupiter is in eighth house, then the diseases caused by Jupiter leads one to death. One can die due to problems of nerve failure, pain, ears, murder, diarrhea, blood disorders, accidents, state punishments or overeating depending on the sign that is in the eighth house. If Jupiter is in ninth house, one earns through own efforts. Such an individual is a self-made man. There are problems in life which leave scars on the body. Jupiter in the tenth house makes one immoral. Jupiter in eleventh house removes problems of life. In this house, almost all planets give good results. But if this house is influenced by malefic planets, then many problems might be created.
One could commit suicide if Jupiter is in twelfth house in Aries or Jupiter conjoins Mars in twelfth house. This combination could also lead to poisoning & pain in the body. If Jupiter is in Scorpio, in this house one is adopted and has to leave one’s house.
To maintain a healthy life, one should not only consume good & healthy food, but rather one should also pray regularly to one’s deity and meditate daily. To keep the body healthy & to get rid of the fear of sudden death, one should worship Lord Shiva instead of offering prayers to Yama, the Lord of death.
Lord Shiva is also called Mahamrityunjaya i.e. one who has conquered death. Death does not mean just the end of physical life, rather diseases & pain are also forms of death. Every sadhak should daily worship Lord Mahamrityunjaya & chant Mahamrityunjaya mantra. Provided below is the Sadhana of Lord Shiva in his Mahamrityunjaya form.
Sadhak must take a bath early in the morning. Get into a fresh yellow cloth & sit on a yellow mat facing east. Take a wooden plank & cover it with a yellow cloth. Now place a picture of revered Gurudev & worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Chant one round of Guru Mantra & seek His divine blessings for success in Sadhana. Next place a picture of Lord Shiva & worship it too.
Now take a plate & write the following MahaMrityunjaya Mantra over it.
Place MahaMrityunjaya Yantra over this mantra. Worship the yantra with vermillion, rice grains & Bilva leaves. Light an incense stick & a ghee lamp with two wicks in it and place it on the right side of the yantra. Place Pingalaaksha on the left side of the yantra. Pray to Lord Shiva to cure your disease(s) & grant you good health. Now chant 5 rounds of the below mantra with Aarogya Siddhi Rosary.
Drop all the sadhana articles in a river or pond the next day. All your diseases will leave your body the moment you drop the sadhana articles. This sadhana can also be performed on behalf of someone else. Just speak out the name of the person for whom you are performing this sadhana prior to mantra chanting.
Before the battle of Mahabharat, Lord Krishna advised Arjun to perform Paashupataastrey sadhana if he wanted to defeat the huge army of Kauravas, wanted to win over death & wished for good fortune in times ahead. According to Lord Krishna, there is no better sadhana for totality and absolute success in life than Paashupataastrey sadhana.
The great sage Vishwamitra too has said that performing the Paashupataastrey sadhana is the greatest fortune of one’s life. It is the best ritual to appease Lord Shiva & gain divine powers from Him. Following are the few benefits of performing this Sadhana:
1) If one is unable to attain success in sadhanas due to evil planets or past bad karmas, then by the grace of Lord Paashupataastrey, one attains quick success as the Lord neutralizes all the negative forces.
2) Lord Shiva is bestower of totality & by the virtue of this sadhana, one makes good spiritual progress.
3) After trying this sadhana, one never has to face failure in life.
4) Lord Shiva rules luck & thus this sadhana is a boon for those who are unfortunate.
5) If accomplished with full devotion & faith, Lord Shiva appears before the sadhak & blesses him.
One needs Narmadeshwar Baanlinga & Rudraaksha rosary for this sadhana. Early morning, have a bath & wear yellow cloth. Sit on a yellow mat facing East. Cover a wooden seat with yellow cloth. On it place a picture of Gurudev & worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Light an incense stick & a ghee lamp. Chant one round of Guru Mantra & seek Gurudev’s divine blessing for success in the sadhana.
Next take a Bel leaf & put it in front of Gurudev’s picture. Place the Narmadeshwar Baanling over the bel leaf and pray thus

Place a flower on your head & on before the Shivalinga. Then contemplating on the holy form of the Lord chant thus,
Pinnak Dhrik Ihaavah Ihaavah Ih Tishtta Ih
Tishtt Ih Sannidhehi Ih Sannidhehi, Ih
Sannidhatsv, Yaavat Poojaam Karomyaham.
Sthaaneeyam Pashupataye Namah.
Now chant 21 rounds of the below mantra with Rudraaksha rosary.
This is a mantra that brings total success & one can even attain divine powers through it. It is known as Ashta Shiva Mantra in the ancient texts. Perform Shiva Aarti after completing the mantra chanting. After completing the sadhana procedure, place Narmadeshwar Baanling & Rudraaksha rosary at your worship place.
The text Rudrayamal Tantra clearly states that if a sadhak wants to preserve the divine energy transferred into him by the Guru through Shaktipaat Diksha, he should accomplish the MahaKaal Sadhana in life. The text also advises that a sadhak should try this sadhana only after getting the permission of his Guru. Prior permission is a must because MahaKaal is a very powerful deity & to propitiate Him means embracing death.
This is the reason why the Lord does not appear before the sadhak in this form, though He might give some hint about His presence. One might hear some voices, or one might feel someone’s presence within the room.
Mahakaal’s boon for His sadhak is death – death of his poverty, his sorrows, his ailments, his weakness, and his failures.
As MahaKaal is the Lord of both death & time, thus sadhaks of Lord MahaKaal become omniscient. He can then easily visualize his past lives & even the events of future. He is also able to peek into the future & past of any person who comes before him. Such a sadhak lives up to an age of hundred. All evil influences of planets get removed from his life. Enemies fear to face him & his seniors feel delighted in obeying his commands.
One needs Mahakaal yantra & Mahakaal rosary for this sadhana. Take a bath around 9:00 pm and get into fresh yellow cloth. Sit on a yellow mat facing East. Cover a wooden seat with yellow cloth. On it place a picture of Gurudev & pray thus
Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwarah,
Guru Saakshaat ParBrahma Tasmei Shree Guruve Namah
Worship Gurudev with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Light an incense stick & a ghee lamp. Chant one round of Guru Mantra & seek Gurudev’s divine blessing for success in the sadhana.
Now take a steel plate & place it in front of Gurudev’s picture. Place Mahakaal yantra on it and worship it with flowers, vermillion & offer some sweets. Then pray to Lord Mahakaal thus
Sashtaaropi Prajaanaam Prabalbhavyaad
Yam Namasyanti Deva,
Yaavat Te Sampravishtopyava-hitamanasaam
Dhyaanmuktaatmanaam Cheiv Noonam.
Lokaanaamaadidevah Sa Jayatu
Bhagavaanchhee-Mahakaalnaamaa,
Vibhraanah Somlekhaa Mahivalayayutam
Vyaktalingam Kapaalam.
Chant 11 rounds of the below mantra with Mahakaal rosary consecutively for next 11 days.
Don’t be afraid if you have any frightening experience during the sadhana duration, just keep your faith in Gurudev & continue with the sadhana. Drop the yantra & rosary in a river or pond after completing the sadhana procedure. You will soon start to feel the difference in your life after completing the sadhana.
Once Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati were sitting on the Kailash Mountain & were talking casually. Suddenly Lord used the word Kali (which means dark) for Goddess’ complexion. The Goddess felt very bad listening to the word Kali & started to remorse on Her complexion. She then left towards Prabhas area & started to worship Shiva Linga.
As Her penance grew, Her complexion also started to become fairer. Soon, all Her body parts gained fair complexion. Then Lord Shiva reached to the worship place & brought Goddess Parvati along with Himself. He also said that whosoever will perform this sadhana will get blessed with beauty, good physique, hypnotic power, wealth, fame & household pleasures.
This sadhana of Lord Shiva can be performed by both man & woman. On one hand where a woman gains beauty & charm, man gains great health & physique, hypnotic power and command in the society. An enormous amount of wealth comes into the life of such a person. If a person is jobless, soon a job comes to him or her. If a person is a businessman & there is no expected progress in the business, then the business starts flourishing. Even household life of such an individual becomes a blessing.
One can even create the same bond of love that ever existed between the couple who now desperately want to get a divorced.
Sadhana Procedure:
Sadhak must take a bath just prior to Eclipse duration. Get into a fresh yellow cloth & sit on a yellow mat facing East. Take a wooden plank & cover it with a yellow cloth. Now place a picture of revered Gurudev & worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flower etc. Chant one round of Guru Mantra & seek His divine blessings for success in sadhana. Next place a picture of Lord Shiva & worship it too.
Now take a plate & make a symbol of Om (ऊॅं) on it using vermillion. Place SadaShiva Yantra at the center of Om and place GauriShankar Rudraksha on the “(ऊॅं)” symbol of Om. Worship the yantra and the Rudraksha with vermillion, rice grains and sindur. Now chant 5 rounds of the below mantra with HarGauri Rosary.
Keep all the sadhana articles in your worship place for at least one week. Drop all the sadhana articles in a river or pond after that.
