Gangotri is the only place which has been termed as Trilok Tarini One can travel to such a pious place with a divine being possessing several siddhis when the pious deeds of last thousand lives gets accumulated
AdiGuru Shankaracharya mentions in Bhagirathi Ganga Stuti –
“O Goddess Gange! You are the Goddess of all the Gods, You are the one who can help a person get rid of all the sins, always flowing and roam in the head of Lord Shiva.
O Mother! May your holy feet always remain in my thought process. Bhagarthi, you bring happiness in everyone’s life. O Mother Goddess! Please eradicate all my sins and take me beyond this cycle of birth and death.
O Mother! Gangotri! Yamraj can’t trouble the person who worships at your bank i.e. a person who worships Her doesn’t go to Yampuri but instead goes to Baikunth.”
Not only Shankaracharya but a lot many Rishis and Yogis have highly praised about Gangotri Dham and have written many scripts specifying its greatness. They all agreed that a trip to Gangotri Dham not only eradicates all the sins from the life of the person, it also ensures that the sadhak is able to live a happy and content life to the fullest and then attains nirvana. Shankaracharya further mentions – “O Mother! You are like KalpVriksha (a wish fulfilling tree) i.e. visiting Gangotri, taking a bath, worshiping there ensures that a person accumulates merits deeds which remain forever with the person.”
It is further mentioned that – “O Mother! Sadness remains at bay from the person who worships you”. In other words it means that all the hurdles, tensions and problems are removed from the life of such a person. It is a fact that all the hurdles or problems that we face in life is due to some of the demerits that we accumulated in our life due to our bad deeds. Removal of such demerits from our life means a life full of success and happiness.
Gangotri is the only such pious place on this planet which provides an opportunity to those who reach there to assimilate divine power, to continuously flow in positive direction in life i.e. to continuously uplift one’s life. It is said that Mother Bhagirathi provides continuity in the life of all Her worshippers the way She is continuously flowing forever. This means that She is able to reach to Her ultimate goal i.e. to assimilate in the ocean; similarly those who worship Her are able to attain their final goal i.e. to assimilate into the Lord. Such a person is able to attain all the worldly pleasures and in the end is able to attain nirvana in life.
One needs this blessing most in life as we are all householders. Due to this reason only and for the very first time, SadGurudev is taking us all to this divine journey of Gangotri Dham. It was the day of Ganga Saptami when Mother Ganga came out from the hair of Lord Shiva and emerged out of Gangotri Dham. It is the same day of Ganga Saptami when Gurudev will be taking all His beloved disciples to this pious land so that we can assimilate the divine power of Shiva-Gauri Ganga consciousness.
Badrinath is a divine town and a Nagar Panchayat in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the most significant of the four sites in India’s Char Dham pilgrimage and gets its name from the divine temple of Badrinath. The Badrinath area is mentioned to as Badari or Badarikaashram in Hindu Holy Books. It is a place blessed to Vishnu, particularly in Vishnu’s dual form of Nara-Narayana. Thus, in the Mahabharata, Krishna, addressing Arjuna, tells, “You were Nara in a former body, and, with Narayana for your companion, did perform dreadful austerity at Badari for many myriads of years.”
One myth has it that when the goddess Ganga was invited to run down to earth to help suffering humanity, the earth was unable to withstand the force of her descent. Consequently the mighty Ganga (Ganges) was split into twelve holy channels, with Alaknanda river one of them.
Another Myth explains both name and sitting posture as this place was full of Badri bushes and Vishnu meditating for, beloved Lakshmi stood next to him shielding him from scorching sunlight turned into a Badri herself called ‘BADRI VISHAL’ and her lord (Nath) became the BadriNath.
The mountains around Badrinath are stated in the Mahabharata, when the Pandavas were said to have expired one by one, when they were climbing the slopes of a peak in western Garhwal called Swargarohini, literal meaning being ‘Ascent to Heaven’. The Pandavas passed through Badrinath and the town of Mana on their way to heaven. There is also a cave in Mana where Vyasa, according to myth, wrote the Mahabharata.
The area around Badrinath was celebrated in Padma Purana as abounding in spiritual treasures. Badrinath was re-established as a main pilgrimage site by Adi Shankara in the ninth century. In previous days, pilgrims used to walk hundreds of miles to visit Badrinath temple. In recent time its fame has increased considerably. The temple in Badrinath is also a holy pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites. Badrinath is also gateway to several mountaineering missions headed to mountains like Nilkantha.
As per to the Bhagavata Purana, “There in Badrikashram the supreme being (Vishnu), in his incarnation as the sages Nara and Narayana, had been undergoing great penance since time immemorial for the welfare of all living entities.”

It has been mentioned in Purans that the amount of merits a person obtain after doing millions of fasts and mantra chanting, the same can be obtained by taking a bath in this Kunda.
Lord Agni was blessed by Lord Vishnu to eradicate all the shortfalls of those who take a bath in this holy Kunda and thus taking a bath in this Kunda makes a person free from all the shortcomings.
This is the merging point of Alaknanda and Saraswati rivers. It place is called as Keshav Prayag. It is mentioned in Skand Puran – This liquid in itself is the Goddess of voice, Goddess Aadhyaa Shakti Saraswati. Performing mantra chanting, doing holy sacrifices, sadhana, taking diksha provides thousands times more effect. Sage Ved Vyas mostly performed his penance at this place and was able to attain such great levels by the grace of Goddess Saraswati.
Goddess Saraswati keeps a benevolent look on the entire family of all the people who come to this place and offer their prayers. Gandhamaardan Mountain is a part of Kailash Mountain and it is mentioned in Maarkandya and Skanda Puran that the mountain from which Saraswati river flows is Gandhamaardan Mountain. It has been mentioned in MahaBharat and other holy scripts that Gandhamaardan Mountain is a part of heaven. Other texts have mentioned it to be the place where God of wealth, God Kubera resides. Saraswati River is also mentioned as DevNadi in Vedas.
Great poet Kalidas has mentioned in his famous work Meghdoot that Alaknanda River which is the main source of Ganga, originates from Alkapuri. This holy river continuously sweeps the holy feet of Lord Vishnu at Badrinath and due to this reason Ganga is also called as VishnuPadi.
Three kilometers from Badrinath is the last village of India called as Mana. This place is mentioned as Manibhadra Pur in the Shastras. There is a Ganesha cave which is the place of Sarva VighnaHarta MangalMurti Riddhi Siddhi Subh Labh provider Lord Ganesha. This is also the place to attain all the worldly things, knowledge, wisdom, wealth and pious thoughts. This was the place where Sage Ved Vyas appeased Lord Ganesha to write the holy scripture MahaBharat. This place is still energized with the powers of Lord Ganesha and penance of Ved Vyas and even today many sadhaks perform sadhanas at this place to imbibe the powers of Lord Ganpati in themselves.
