Hartalika Teej: 21 August 2020
Goddess Parvati is the power is Lord Shiva, who is the supreme God. It is said that without Shakti (Parvati), Shiva is like a Shava (corpse). This line in itself shows the great significance of Goddess Parvati. The ten Mahavidhyaas are Her various forms and She is also considered as the queen of the phenomenal world.
It is said that one eye of Goddess Parvati is regarded as Raja Mathangi, bestows prosperity and erudition while the other eye is Varahi– the Commander-in-chief of the celestial army, protects devotees from all evil. A sacred text describes Goddess Parvati as the protector of the 14 worlds. She is considered as the protector of the land and the oceans. Goddess Parvati is also called Prakriti, the active force in the cosmic creation. She is the underlying energy creating, sustaining and maintaining the physical world which is the supreme power embodied in names and forms.
Goddess Parvati is regarded as the supreme Goddess who creates everything and destroys all the unnecessary evils of world with the help of Lord Shiva. She is also the Goddess of Kali, Lakshmi, Saraswati as well as Gayatri. She is also known as Om Shakti or Adi Shakti.
It is believed that she is so powerful that even the NavaGrahas (nine planets) cannot stop her from doing anything She wishes to do.
If we look with a little focus, we can easily make out She is the only Goddess who lives a complete householde life. She has a husband and children. She needs to nurture Her family just like any other mother does. Thus, She is the one who can understand the real pleasures and pains of a householder’s life. The Goddess do not only removes enemies, ailment and poverty from the life of Her sadhak’s but also blesses them with beauty, wealth, luxury, love and pleasure in life.
Hartalika Teej is known by this name due to the legend associated with it. Hartalika word is combination of Harat and Aalika which means abduction and female friend respectively. According to the legend of Hartalika Teej, a friend of Goddess Parvati took her into the thick forest so that her father cannot marry her to Lord Vishnu against her wish.
The field of sadhanas is very wide. There are various sects like Mantra, Tantra, Aghora, Saabara etc. and each one of them are highly effective. They have evolved over the period of time and as per the culture existing in their era. As Vedic mantras are made in Sanskrit, so not everyone can pronounce them or understand them. On the other hand, Saabara mantras were made popular by Nath Yogis who wanted these mantras to be very simple and usable by normal humans. These mantras might sound a bit awkward, however they are among one of the most effective mantras.
I came to know about one such Saabar sadhana while I was staying with Gurudev.
It was a daily routine that several visitors used to come and meet Gurudev and discuss their problems with Him. On one such day, I met with a women who seemed very sad and frustrated in life. She came to visit Gurudev and was looking very depressed. Even though she appeared to belong to a rich and well doing family, the sadness on her face had made her very dull. She had good facial features, was fair and someone around 28 to 30 years old, however, the dark circles around her eyes were sinking all her beauty.
She sat in the holy feet of Gurudev and asked, “Will I ever get married in life?”
This was one of the most straight forward questions I have ever heard from a woman in my life. Even though Gurudev is revered by all, however, woman in our society normally don’t ask such questions. The word “marriage” normally makes a woman feel shy, on the other hand, it appeared this word and this relationship is no more than a social bonding for her which is eating her from inside.
Gurudev looked at her face calmly and said, “I know you are going through a very tough phase of your life. Even though you are well educated, belong to a reputed and well doing family, you are beautiful, yet you have been facing continuous rejections in your marriage proposal. You were fine till the time the society was pointing fingers on you, however, you now feel disheartened because even your family has started to lose hope in you getting married.”
I could see tears pouring out of her eyes listening to these words. She started sobbing and then after sometime asked, “Then do I have to die listening various taunts of this world?”
Gurudev again looked into her eyes and I could see pain emerging out in Gurudev’s eyes too. He said, “You are facing this hurdle because of your past deeds. It is the fruit of your sins which are coming in form of hurdles in the way of your marriage. In other words, you are cursed to remain unmarried your entire life.”
I was silently witnessing this conversation. She then requested Gurudev, “You are such a divine being and have helped thousands of people to overcome their issues. I am sure I am in the right hands and I seek your blessings to overcome this situation. If there is no solution, then I would prefer to end my life than to go through all these taunts.”
Gurudev kept silent for a moment and then said, “There is no way one can escape from one’s karma. Even if you finish your current life, you will have to pay for it in the next life. This is how the life cycle goes on. However, one can attain whatever one wishes for in life by the means of sadhanas. They are a blessing from our holy sages and they devised various sadhana procedure so that the coming generations can get benefitted by them. There certainly is a sadhana which can help you.”
Listening to these words, a ray of hope emerged at her face, it was like a lifeline to her. The lady was still crying but the tears emerging out of her eyes were not tears of pain. She took the mantra and sadhana articles from Gurudev, bowed down in His holy feet and left for her home.Around a month passed by and I almost forgot the incident. Then one day, she came to visit Gurudev again and this time she was all different. She looked like a lady full of youth and had a great smile on her face. I could hardly see any dark circles on her face. She recognized me and greeted. She then went to meet Gurudev where she disclosed the great news. She was getting married into a very rich family and the boy was planning to get settled abroad.
Gurudev blessed her and was extremely happy to see her success in the sadhana. She then touched His holy feet and I saw tears coming out of her eyes. Gurudev blessed her once again
and to make the situation lighter said, “Hope you are going to invite me to your marriage” and then we all laughed.
Within a month the groom shifted to abroad and within next six months the lady too went to live with her husband. She is still in contact with Gurudev and is now a very dear disciple. I am sharing the sadhana details shared by Gurudev for the benefit of all.
One needs Shiva Parvati Saubhagya Yantra, picture of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva and 11 Gomti Chakras for this sadhana. This is a 11 day sadhana procedure and doesn’t take more than 30 minutes daily. The best day to start this procedure is from Hartaalika Teej but can be started from any Monday too. Goddess Parvati too performed great penance for several years to get a groom like Lord Shiva and it all started from the day of Hartaalika Teej only.
Get up early in the morning and take a bath. Get into fresh red cloth and sit on a red mat facing east. Take a wooden plank and cover it too with a fresh red cloth. Place a picture of revered SadGurudev and worship Him with vermillion, rice grains, flowers etc. Light a ghee lamp and an incense stick. Then chant one round of Guru Mantra and pray to Gurudev for success in sadhana.
Next place a copper plate in front of Gurudev’s picture and place Shiva Parvati Saubhagya Yantra on it. Also place the picture of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva next to Gurudev’s picture. Worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with vermillion, rice grains, flowers etc. and offer some sweet made of milk to them. Next pray to the divine couple to remove all the hurdles coming in the path of your marriage and bless you with a suitable match.
Next chant the below mantra for just 108 times and offer a Gomti Chakra each day after completing the mantra chanting.
|| Om Jagat Pratiestai Parvatia Namah ||
।। ॐ जगत्प्रतिष्ठाये पार्वत्ये नमः।।
After completing the sadhana on the 11th day, tie all the Gomti Chakra in the red cloth used to cover the wooden plank and keep it within your worship place. Drop all the other articles in a river or pond. This completes the sadhana procedure and you will soon feel the same good impact coming in your life and you will be blessed by the divine couple.
The lady who performed this sadhana still keeps these Gomti Chakras in her worship place and considers them to be a symbol of fortune.
