Janmashtami 15-August
A day to fulfill all the wishes, a day to
get initiated with special Dikshas that
can transform the life of the sadhak!

The call had come suddenly when I was least expecting it and Gurudev stood by me as I waited for the final command. Seconds ticked by and with my breath upheld, I kept my nerves under my control. Then when I thought the word would never come, the loud voice entered in my ears – “Jump”.
The heart throbbed with joy, the soul ready to soar high and my feet almost left the ground, when I heard another shout filled with fear of unknown, “No”. I broke into cold sweat in the grip of fear and my mind started to hallucinate wild baseless nightmares. There was my Guru asking me to step into the ocean of enlightenment while I stood in deep dilemma, my thoughts all broken and my heart beating wildly. I wished to obey the command of my Guru, but my mind had revolted. It refused to let me take the plunge. With tear filled eyes I looked at Gurudev, silently requesting for help. Without uttering a word, he raised his right hand, and his thumb came to rest on my Aagya Chakra.
The touch was electrifying and everything started to get hazy. My eyelids became heavy till I could keep them open no longer and I drifted into a state of deep meditation. It was a strange world I was entering. I felt as if I was travelling in space and then suddenly there was a flash, and a new scene appeared in my inner vision.
Slowly as my vision became clear, I was left astonished by what I saw. Right there before me stood a royal chariot and on it was the great warrior Arjun, as he listened to the words of Lord Krishna, his friend and his Guru.
Arjun’s thoughts were jumbled and he was greatly confused as he kept repeating to himself, “I can’t fight against my elders, my grandfather Bhishma, my teacher Dronacharya and my cousins. I don’t want any kingdom, I can’t kill my owns. This is a sin.”
I found his condition like mine, He was in a terrible dilemma, even blaming Krishna for pushing him in this situation. Anjun was shaking in his thoughts but Krishna in a moment shed the role of a friend and assumed that of a Guru.
Lord Krishna smiled at Arjun’s thoughts and said, “It’s no sin to fight. Arjun, this is not just a battle, this is a war of righteousness against evil. You shall be sinning if you shy away and refuse to pick up your bow, for then you shall be deviating from the path of Dharma.”
“People won’t laugh at you for fighting your siblings, but they surely will if you show cowardice. They shall say that you ran from the battleship to save yourself. You are gravely mistaken if you think you are going to kill them. Their time is up on this earth and they are destined to die. You are just an instrument of death!”
These words form Lord Krishna were to awaken Arjun. The Guru tries every trick to prevent the disciple from wavering when he’s on the verge of taking the leap. He is the one who runs the whole show. A disciple is guided on the right path by none else than Guru. But even the best efforts of the SadGuru can fail as they had with me, and as they did with Arjun.
Not ready to accept Krishna’s reasoning, Arjun replied, “How can I believe what you say? You are not even fighting! What can you know the pain I am suffering? You don’t have any close relative as mine against whom you have to fight. You are asking me to kill them. How do I know that they are destined to die?”
In an instant Krishna knew that it was now or never for Arjun. He was on the brink of throwing away his weapons. More than just words were needed to convince him, to make him see the truth. A look of determination appeared on the face of Lord Krishna and he said, “Fine Arjun, let me give you the proof. Let me show you that they are all dying. But for that you need more than just your eyes, you need to have the divine vision.”
Lord Krishna raised his hand and his thumb moved to touch Arjun’s third eye. It was the same scene being repeated. I held my breath and looked on in wonder, “So, this is the device my Guru has used to banish all the doubts from my mind.” Removing all the thoughts that were crowding my mind, I concentrated on the scene before me.
Lord Krishna’s thumb was now resting on Arjun’s third eye and then it happened. There was a flash of lightning and for a moment everything became dark. Then slowly the eyes adjusted to the most beautiful scene unfolding there in the battleground of Kurukshetra. There was a long stretch of soldiers on both the sides and in between stood the chariot of Arjun and right before it was the towering form of the Lord Krishna, his cosmic form!
For several minutes in awe, Arjun kept taking in the huge divine form and then on the wide expanse of the Lord Krishna’s chest the drama of the battle of Kurukshetra which was yet to be fought, started to unfold in splendid montage. The two armies rushed into one another and the clash of weapons filled the air. Soldiers started to die and one by one all the great warriors on the Kaurava’s side met their end.
As the last scene faded, Arjun realized that that he was a mere instrument of fate and then determination fill him, “I have to fight, I have to kill all those who are on to the path of Adharma.” Then suddenly as I looked at Lord Krishna’s face, my breath stopped. I saw the face of my Guru in the face of Lord Krishna. In a flash I understood everything. Arjun’s words again echoed in my ears and I was jolted out of the trance to find myself standing once again with my Guru. The words still rang in my ears, but a bit differently, “I have to jump, I have to take the leap!”
I had doubted the Guru, I had disregarded his command, but he had known how to free me of my weakness. Years of worldly life had filled me with doubts, fears, deceit and lies and the only way left for him had been Diksha or the transfer of divine energy, so that my inner vision became clear and I realized the truth.
The first step towards the truth is Diksha and the moment a disciple obtains Diksha for the first time, all his drawbacks start to disappear and he is linked to the immanent soul. It is then that he realizes the true greatness of the Guru. While earlier he would bow in the Guru’s feet as a mere formality, now he brims over with true devotion and lets his tears wash the holy feet of his SadGuru.
For the first time he feels light, having been freed of his ego, his delusional thoughts and mind. It’s then that be becomes prepared to amalgamate completely in the divine and no longer gets frightened on the thought of taking the leap, for he is jumping into the infinite, that is his Guru. Then there’s no fear of losing oneself in the divine and becoming one with the absolute.
It’s a strange game, you have to lose all to gain all. And all you need is devotion and faith, for then the Guru must lovingly shower his divine affection on the disciple through Diksha. It works like magic and completely transforms disciple’s life, bringing him wealth, fame , pos i t ion a long wi th spi r i tual enlightenment. It was Diksha that Krishan gave to Arjun that day in Kurukshetra and it is this transfer of divine energy that transforms an ordinary human being into a divine being. This Diksha makes a person a complete human being and showers the utter joy – Brahmananda!
