The first day of the year is starting from Thursday, the day of Guru. Not only this, Guru Pradosh is also falling on this very day. Could there be any better day than this to assimilate GuruTatva in life? Sadhaks and disciples should take full advantage of this occurrence and make the best out of it.
In the text below, SadGurudev explained about the essence and importance of love in life. Why great sages like Kabir and Surdas considered themselves as woman and were able attain God, why Guru is considered as the beloved of a disciple and how can a disciple attain completeness in life.
Today, a difficult question has been put before me – what is love? What is the value of love in life? If I explain what’s the essence of life, then it is love. The life of a person deprived of love is like a dead and deserted forest. There is no joy, no enjoyment and thus there is no meaning of such a life. In true sense, the essence of life is love.
The word love I am talking about is the love towards the God, it is the connection between souls, there is no lust in such a love. There is no pettiness in this word and God can only be attained by means of love. There is no other way to attain God. One can attain siddhis via mantra and sadhanas, one can go into deep meditation via closing eyes and focussing internally, however, to witness God, to appease the God, one must germinate the seeds of love within oneself.
This is not just a topic related to God and the devotee, but love is equally important to attain Guru in life. If a disciple wants to assimilate the Guru in one’s heart, if the disciple wants to attain the grace of Guru, then it is necessary to have a stream of love flowing within the heart. Otherwise, the disciple will only be able to look at the physical form of the Guru and can just wish to soak in the shower of Guru’s grace.
Due to this reason, I am explaining the essence of love in life. Love exists in every person around us, we don’t need to borrow it from someone or take special coaching for it. Love is the thought process of life and it exists in the same way a human has limbs, eyes, ears etc. What is needed is to let the seed germinate in our body, we need to nourish this seed like we nourish a seed during germination. Once germinated, we need to provide it proper water and oxygen, support and sunlight so that this sampling of love can grow into a big tree.
If we are unable to understand the essence of love, if we are unable to witness love in life, then there can be no joy in this life. Such a life is like a barren desert. Those who have tasted love in life, those who have experienced love in life, only they can understand what the essence of life is, what is the thought process of life and what makes this life complete.
Due to this reason, our sages, our ancestors, our shastras, our Vedas have talked about the devotee as a woman. The devotee considers the God as a complete man and generate this relationship of love. The reason behind this ideology is the fact that only a woman understands the true way to love. A man can’t understand this ideology. A woman is enriched with love and can understand the yearning whereas a man can just play with the number as his intellectual knowledge has more control over him. On the contrary, a woman doesn’t allow the intellectual part of the brain to take full control over herself and thus she can surrender completely and get rid of her ego and pride.
These virtues exist in woman only and not in man. If we talk about Kabir, Surdas, Meera or any other sage and when they decided to attain God in life, they considered themselves as a woman. Considering oneself as a woman doesn’t mean to wear the cosmetics or clothes of a woman, rather it means to activate our heart immediately as it is the essence of life. Our brain has taken full control over our heart and due to this our life is nothing but a dry and dead desert.
Till the time there is no joy in our life, till the time there is no sweetness in life, till the time we are not occupied in the thoughts of someone, till the time someone doesn’t exist in our eyes, till the time there is no other thing or knowledge that always lingering in our thoughts, till the time our beloved doesn’t always remain in our eyes, we can’t meditate, we can remain lost and we can’t get rid of ourselves. Thus, it is a fortune of life to transform into a woman as the greatest creation can only be done by a woman.
A man is the greatest creation of this world and the biggest achievement of a woman is to give birth to a male child. A woman is blessed with two great attributes over man. First is the capability to bear extreme pain in life. Giving birth to a child is the greatest pain in human life, a woman must carry the child in her womb for nine months and labour pain a woman bears is unparallel. It is only a woman who can bear this pain, a man can’t. Thus, a woman is more powerful than a man in terms of bearing the pain.
To overshadow the woman, a man swims across the rivers, he dives into the ocean, flies in the sky and do all sorts of dangerous acts to prove that he can equally bear the pain a woman can tolerate. This act of a man is nothing else but an act of illusion as a man can’t understand the pain of the woman.
Second attribute is that only a woman can love and surrender completely before her beloved. One can’t love maintaining a balance sheet in life. Love is like jumping into the ocean, there is no thought of saving oneself. A man can’t jump like this as his intellect doesn’t allow him to do so. On the contrary, a woman’s heart is more activated and thus anyone who wishes to attain God must first activate the heart. A man thinks partly from mind and partly from heart.
He keeps on evaluating what will happen if I do this, what others will think about me, if my act is right or wrong. Such a man can just pretend to love but can’t become a true lover. On the other hand, if a woman is in love, she will do anything.
The essence of love is suffering – the capability to bear extreme pain. Nothing but pain exists in life after separation. The beloved appears before the eyes for a moment and then disappears. Under such a state, it was said

That my eyes have become weak by waiting for my beloved and continuously looking at the path on which he will arrive and blisters have appeared on my tongue reciting his name (Ram). Here the lover showed the extreme pain he was going through because he wasn’t even blinking the eyes to avoid missing the opportunity to witness the beloved, Lord Ram.
Also, his tongue got blisters by continuously chanting the name of Lord Ram. Who else but a woman can bear this suffering. A man can just wait for two to three days and beyond that his mind will say that it is just a wastage of time, no one is going to come.
As a result, the man turns back and don’t invest his life in this suffering. A woman doesn’t do this, she might get dissolved and will end her life as she has the strength to wait, and the pain of this wait is as painful as that of giving birth to a child. Thus, it is a woman who can truly love – with full devotion and surrender.
Similarly, a disciple can attain the Guru by first becoming a woman i.e. by first energizing the heart. The disciple must focus on only one aspect in life, only one thought, only one milestone – to establish Guru in the soul, not only in the soul but to establish Him in every pore of the body and to completely get amalgamated with Guru.
Only a woman can do it, a man can’t. A man remains occupied with various problems of life. Even though he wants to attain the God and even though he wants to attain the Guru, his focus keeps on wavering on the various problems of life. On the contrary, a woman will either not travel onto the path of divinity and if she decides to travel on this path, she will completely immerse herself. Due to this reason, I say love can’t be borrowed from someone, love is not sold in the market and it can’t be brought from anywhere.
Love exists in your heart, what is needed is to prepare the soil to let the seed of love germinate, what is needed is to nurture the germinated seed and to save it from the external world so that this seed can get transformed into a huge tree. What’s needed is to identify and understand the essence of love.
For a fish water is not an unknown thing, a fish is born in the water and it dies within it. Similarly, God is not unknown to you, you are a part of God, you are born within the God and God exists within you. What’s important is to understand that God and for that you need to energize your heart with love.
Your heart is filled with hundreds of lusts, deceits, problems and due to this enormous pressure, your heart is no more energized with love. The Vedas have termed love as a chasten woman whereas brain is termed as immodest woman or a prostitute. The reason behind this strong terminology is that brain will think about something for a moment and then in the very next moment it will start to think about something else. A man or woman who often changes the partner is also nothing else than a prostitute because their brain deludes them to think that they will get happiness from the next partner.
For a chasten woman, there is just one person. She just has one thought and one philosophy for life. Meera didn’t meet Krishna in Her entire life, she couldn’t see Krishna in her life, she never got a single glimpse of Krishna in His true form, yet she continued to wait for Him during her entire life and said that I will keep my eyes opened till my last breath to just get a glimpse of my beloved.
And till the time you don’t attain this stage in life, you won’t be able to attain anything worthy. You can either continue to perform one sadhana after another to attain divinity or can attain this stage by establishing Guru in your heart. If this happens, this won’t be a normal incident in your life, it would be an incident that even your ancestors would feel proud of.
Nothing remains unfulfilled once a person attains this stage as the Guru is complete in Himself and getting immersed in completeness will make the disciple complete. Now the question that arises here is how we can establish Guru in our heart within this life.
The answer to this is Guru Hridayasth Sthaapan Sadhana. Presented here is a unique sadhana that cannot be found anywhere else and is very difficult to procure. It is the highest sadhana that a person can try and so it has been kept secret over last thousands of years. It might appear too simple to believe; but one could get linked to the Guru element, to one’s soul and tap into its amazing infinite capabilities by the means of this sadhana.
Sadhana Procedure:
One needs Guru Hridayasth SthaapanYantra and Crystal rosary for this sadhana. On Thursday, 1st January, get up early in the morning and have a bath. Get into fresh yellow clothes. Sit on a yellow mat facing north. Cover a wooden seat with yellow cloth. Place Take some petals of a yellow colored flower and place Guru Hridayasth SthaapanYantra over it. Light a ghee lamp and then speak out thus:
Deergho Sadaam, Vei Paripoorna Roopam,
Gurutvam Sadeivam Bhagwat
Prannamyam. Tvam Brahma Vishnu
Rudra Swaroopam, Tvadeeyam
Prannamyam, Tvadeeyam Prannamyam.

Offer saffron, rice grains, flowers and sweet made from milk on the yantra. Then chant just one round of the following mantra while standing on toes with heels kept above the ground.

।। ऊँ हृीं नृं मम रक्त बिन्दु हृदयस्थ गुरु स्थापितं नृं हृीं ऊँ ।।
Do this regularly for 21 days. Then drop the yantra and the rosary in a river or pond. Doing so establishes Guru element in each atom of one’s body and one starts on to the journey of spiritual enlightenment and divinity.
