Once Goddess Lakshmi got upset with the earthly people and went back to Vaikuntha Loka. A lot of issues surfaced on earth because of the absence of the Mother Goddess. Life of all the Brahmins and others became miserable, and they started to roam around desperately. Then, Vashishtha, the greatest among the Brahmins, decided to bring back Goddess Lakshmi to earth.
When Vashishtha reached Vaikuntha, he came to know that the Goddess was upset with the people on earth and She was not willing to come back. Then Vashishtha started worshiping Lord Vishnu to help appease Goddess Lakshmi. Vashishtha told Lord Vishnu that Goddess Lakshmi has deserted earth due to which everything has stopped functioning properly. The hermitages have started to fall; businessmen are facing huge losses and there is no liveliness left on the planet.
Listening to the plea, Lord Vishnu agreed to accompany Vashishtha and went to Goddess Lakshmi. However, Mother Goddess didn’t agree to the request and refused to go back to earth.
Dejected, Vashishtha returned to earth and updated everyone about Goddess Lakshmi’s decision. Everyone was clueless as they didn’t know any other way to appease the Mother Goddess. At that moment God’s Guru, Brihaspati, said the only way left is to create Shri Yantra and to energize it with special mantras. Doing so will certainly force Mother Goddess to come back to earth.
Listening to these words of Brihaspati, all the sages were overjoyed. They created a Parad Shri Yantra and energized it with various mantras. They started the ritual two days before Diwali, i.e. from Dhan Trayodashi. By the time the worship completed, Goddess MahaLakshmi appeared before the sages and said, “I had vowed that I will never return to earth. However, Brihaspati’s trick forced me to come back as Shri Yantra is the basis of my existence and my soul exists within this Yantra.”
This story proves the efficacy of Shri Yantra and is the favorite Yantra of Goddess Lakshmi. Wherever this Yantra is placed, Goddess Lakshmi is bound to stay there forever. All the sages, sadhaks and great accomplishers of Lakshmi Sadhana have unanimously agreed that this Yantra is unparalleled in attaining the grace of Goddess Lakshmi in life. One might face failure in appeasing Goddess Lakshmi by any other Yantra or sadhana procedure, however, placing this Yantra at your worship place certainly pleases Goddess Lakshmi and the sadhak is blessed with all the worldly pleasures and success in life.
Wherever this Yantra is placed, poverty can’t exist there and this Yantra is equally effective in getting rid of loans. As per sage Bhardwaj, keeping mantra energized metallic Shri Yantra is a complete sadhana in itself. This Yantra is mysterious, special, unparalleled and for sure benefits the sadhak. The more a person tries to understand its mysteries, the more complexities appear before them. Mantra Maharnava mentions there are sixteen hymns in Shri Sukta that provide hidden clues in transforming a piece of metal into gold. The day we understand the hidden meanings of these hymns; we can transform any metal into gold. And the essence of understanding Shri Sukta is hidden within Shri Yantra.
Kanad mentioned that if Shri Yantra is energized, then there is no need to perform any other procedure on it. Wherever such a Yantra is placed, that place becomes energized and starts to provide favorable results. The way an incense stick doesn’t belong to any specific person and starts to emit fragrance the moment it is lit, similarly mantra energized Shri Yantra starts to bring in prosperity and happiness in the home it is placed.
This Yantra can be placed at home on any day, though as per Tantra Samuchchaya, the most favorable day to do this is on any Wednesday. Sadhaks should get up early on the day, take a bath, get into fresh cloth and place the Yantra at the worship place between sunrise and 10:00 AM. There is no special procedure for this as Yantra is already mantra energized.
Along with keeping the yantra at worship place, a person can also place this Yantra within almirah, within locker, at factory or at any other important place. This Yantra starts to bring positive effects from the very day it is placed.
As per Shastras, there is no need to worship mantra energized Shri Yantra daily. All one needs is to light an incense stick and lamp before the Yantra. It is also fine to offer flowers or fragrance on to the yantra. It is important to note that nothing bad happens if the person misses lighting the incense stick or lamp before the Yantra on a day or two, the Yantra remains as effective as ever.
Most of us are aware of Shri Yantra, but hardly a few might know that there are eight types of Shri Yantra namely:
Among all these, KurmaPrishtheeya Shri Yantra is favorable for the householders as it brings in prosperity, progress, blesses the family with child and removes the burden of loan. Thus, every householder must place KurmaPrishtheeya Shri Yantra at home or their business place to get unending wealth, remove poverty, name-fame-prosperity and all the worldly pleasures. As per Shastras, placing Shri Yantra in the foundation of a newly constructed home forever blesses the people living in the home with prosperity and happiness.
And when we talk about prosperity and happiness, then we must talk about Goddess Lakshmi as she is the Goddess of prosperity and happiness. People often associate Goddess Lakshmi with wealth only, however, wealth is just one aspect of Goddess Lakshmi. In our day-to-day lives, we regularly need the blessings of eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi, generally called Ashta Lakshmi. Ashta Lakshmi refers to the eight divine forms of the Goddess, each representing a different aspect of life. These forms are believed to bless devotees with various forms of abundance, including material wealth, agricultural bounty, power, courage, knowledge, and victory.
1) Adi Lakshmi: This is the ancient and eternal form of Lakshmi, all other incarnations came from Her. She is depicted to be sitting on a lotus and in Her four hands She holds a flag to symbolize consent and a lotus for enlightenment, while Her other two hands give a signal of fearlessness.
2) Dhana Lakshmi: The word ‘Dhana’ means wealth, and this is the form of Lakshmi that worshippers ask for financial help. Dhana Lakshmi is draped in gold chains and has six hands. Dhana Lakshmi is generous to those who show perseverance in financial and spiritual matters.
3) Dhanya Lakshmi: ‘Dhanya’ means blessed, and She provides agricultural abundance. Dhanya Lakshmi wears green for fertility and has eight arms. Dhanya Lakshmi provides nourishment to everything, depicting the miracles of nature.
4) Gaja Lakshmi: ‘Gaja’ means elephant and points to the power of the animal kingdom. Gaja Lakshmi sits flanked by elephants and her four arms hold lotuses and give the signal for giving and fearlessness. She represents success in animal husbandry.
5) Santana Lakshmi: ‘Santana’ means offspring, and She is the form of Goddess Lakshmi that is worshiped by people who want an offspring in life. She wears garlands of flowers and gold and has six hands. Santana Lakshmi grants children as treasures.

7) Vidya Lakshmi: ‘Vidya’ is knowledge, and this form guides intellectual development. Vidya Lakshmi holds two lotuses and presents the signals for fearlessness and giving. This form of Lakshmi guide devotes from the path of darkness to enlightenment.
8) Vijaya Lakshmi: This form of Goddess Lakshmi provides success in life. Vijaya means victory in Hindi. This form of the Goddess thus provides people with success in spiritual growth as well as success in every aspect of life.
