The term Shraaddh in Hindi means paying respect or offerings to your ancestors, to show that you feel indebted towards your ancestors. As per the Indian philosophy, the soul travels through various forms and faces lots of pains and troubles. The Shashtras mentions that Shraaddh ritualas give relief to these souls. It is also mentioned that if someone doesn’t pay offerings to his ancestors, then no God accepts his worship. A person who doesn’t perform the yearly Shraaddh of his father and mother goes to hell where he is tortured enormously and then finally takes a rebirth as a pig.
It is also true that till the time a person doesn’t get free from the debts of his ancestors, one can’t get full success in any task that he perform. It is also observed that the spirits are worshiped all around the world. These spirits are none other but our ancestors and under whom we are indebted in one or other way. These spirits are equally powerful as compared to Gods or any such divine being.
If they are not satisfied completely, they start to interfere in the normal life of their offspring. Their main intention behind this interference is that their offspring should help them to get rid of their sufferings. Due to interference it is observed that diseases become frequent in the house, we face lots of hurdles in our daily life, every time we remain afraid of some unknown fear, we suffer through heavy financial losses. Even though the person can witness these calamities in life, he can’t make out the real cause behind it and how to get rid of these issues.
It is observed that life becomes hell if we don’t offer what our ancestors expect from us. It is also seen that even though a person performs worship for ancestors, still he doesn’t get free of troubles. The reason behind this is that due to some mistakes performed during the worship procedure, they are unable to please their ancestors completely. And to get the attention of their offspring, these ancestors again start to interfere in their life.
If the ancestors are not fully satisfied, it is recommended that the offspring should worship their ancestors on the last day of the Shraaddh Paksha, i.e. on Sarva Pitra Amavasya. If one worships the ancestors on this day, the ancestors are relieved from the pains and as a result, the ancestors bless their offspring which helps him to get success in life.
The advantage of worshiping the ancestors in this unique way is that the troubled soul definitely gets rid of the pains and troubles that they are suffering from and soon gets a chance to take rebirth in a good family. Thus this Sadhana helps one to relieve his ancestors from pains and as a result the ancestors bless their offspring which brings harmony, success, wealth in ones life.
