Reference of Goddess Annapurna can be found in Hindu religious texts such as the
Rudrayamala, Sivarahasya, Annapurnamantratsava,
Maha Tripurasiddhanta, Annapurna Kavacha Annapurnahavamti,
Annapurnamalininaksatramalika, and Bhairvahyantantra.

With the disappearance of Mother Goddess Parvati, the world was left short of food, and there occurred a famine. Followers of Lord Shiva had to beg Him for food; even the Gods were forced to beg for food but could not find anything. Lord Shiva and his followers realized that there was only one kitchen on earth, in the city of Varanasi where food was still available.
Lord Shiva went to Varanasi to beg for food. To his surprise, the kitchen was owned by none other than his wife, Mother Goddess Parvati, but in the form of Annapurna. Annapurna offered her food as alms to Shiva and made him realize that as Brahman, Lord Shiva might have outgrown hunger; but his followers had not. Lord Shiva accepted His fault and requested Mother Goddess to come back to Kailash. Mother Goddess said She will come back in Her Parvati form, but Her Annapurna form will continue to reside at Varanasi to feed all Her children.
It is a fact that our mind and body are nourished by what we eat. There is a very famous saying, “A lamp eats darkness, but in turn produces lampblack.” The essence of this saying is if the food we consume is not earned from righteous means, the food is going to harm us in all ways. If the food grain that we have bought from grocery store is not bought by the seller by fair means but is rather a theft commodity, the food cooked by such grain will definitely harm us. Thus, it is very important to sanitize the food from these evil karmas and that is the reason why people first offer the food to God or Guru.
Goddess Annapurna when pleased, blesses an individual with good quality food, a pantry which always remains filled and abundance in life. Annapurna Siddhi doesn’t mean that whatever we wish to eat will magically appear before us, rather it means the individual gains the capability to consume whatever we wish for. If we wish to eat sweets, then there are two ways – either by having the power to purchase it or by cooking it ourselves. In both cases, the person can fulfill the desire.
This sadhana should be performed on Annapurna Jayanti. If somehow you are unable to do so, one can also perform this sadhana during the Navaratri, Diwali, Holi or any other auspicious day related to Mother Goddess.
Sadhana Procedure
One needs Annapurna Yantra and Kamal Gatta rosary for this procedure. Take a bath after 10 pm and wear clean yellow clothes.
Sit on a yellow mat facing North and place a wooden plank before you. Cover the plank with a yellow cloth and place a picture of revered SadGurudev on it. Light a ghee lamp that should continue to burn during the entire sadhana duration. Now worship SadGurudev with rice grains, vermillion and flowers and chant one round of Guru Mantra. After this, pray to SadGurudev for success in sadhana.
Next make a slightly big mound of rich grains on the plank and put some vermillion and flower petals on the mound and place the Shri Yantra on it. Also place a picture of Goddess Lakshmi in front of you. Offer some food made with milk to the Mother Goddess. Now take the Kamal Gatta rosary and chant 11 rounds of the following mantra.

Om Om Om Om Annpurnaayai Namah ||
मंत्र

Chant one round of Guru Mantra again at the end of the sadhana. Perform Goddess Parvati Aarti and Guru Aarti and then consume the offerings made to the Goddess with full joy.
Offer food to seven girls the next day. It is observed that the person performing this sadhana starts getting good financial gains by the end of this sadhana. Also, the health of such a person starts to become better as the grains get detached from any sins. For even better results, one should chant the above mantra 51 times daily in the morning before the yantra. This helps the person to gain continuous health & wealth in life.
It is mandatory to obtain Guru Diksha from Revered Gurudev before performing any Sadhana or taking any other Diksha.
