Siddhashram is the only word which is as old as the Vedas. It was the time when the Aryan civilization was getting enlightenment, when the great Sages like Vishwamitra, Vasishta, Garg, Kanaada and Pulatsya were creating the Hymns related to various Gods and Goddesses, Hymns related to nature and the Hymns that enabled the upliftment of the human civilization. Along all these, the word Siddhashram was also mentioned in the Vedas.
Rig Veda is the first Veda and it mentions the relationship between humans and Gods, upliftment of human civilization and the aim of this life and what all are the necessities of this life. One of the Mantra is mentioned as follows: Om Poorno Darvi Suparnaa Hi Prabhah De Vadamn…….
This means that we should be rich, famous, happy, fortunate and brave in our life but we should also reach to such heights in life which ends at Siddhashram. This stage is even more precious than becoming divine or reaching heaven.
We can realize how old the word Siddhasahram is by means of the above mentioned Hymn. Siddhashram is the most ancient word of this world, it is the most ancient hermitage of this world and whose creation is itself is a inconceivable. The way it is said about the Vedas that no one has created it, similarly no one has created Siddhashram. It is itself unborn, itis itself ageless.
The moment humans were able to create a relationship with the nature, at that very moment a link was created between humans and Siddhashram. The materialistic world of human is this world and the spiritual world is Siddhashram because he can attain completeness in his life by the means of Siddhashram only. Human life from birth to death is just a stoppage, this is not completeness in life.
Completeness can be obtained only by traveling this complete path and reaching there, where human got detached from the Brahma. That human after getting detached from the Brahma performs all the tasks related to religion, money and work and when he finally gets enlightenment, he attains Siddhashram. Then he gets united with it’s land, it’s nature, it’s consciousness and all the living beings out there. Then he is finally able to get reunited with the Brahma. This complete process is termed as “Brahmatva Prapti’ or getting reunited with the Brahma.
The word Brahaman was created based on this word only. The crux of all the texts that were created later like Purans, Upanishads etc. is that whatever we are doing like earning money, working, giving birth to our child and what we are treating as the completeness of our life is all negligible, its all incomplete. This human life is similar to multiple stoppages in between two destinations. If we treat one of the stoppages as our destination, then this stoppage becomes really painful when we realize that it was not our destination and died in between of our journey.
Still there is something to cherish about for us and this is that in those Vedas, in Rig Veda, in Yajurva Veda, in Saama Veda as well as in Atharva Veda there is only a single common thing. Otherwise all the four Vedas mentions different mantras and different Hymns. All these four Vedas have unanimously mentioned that the completeness of this human life is in reaching Siddhashram, the only thing worthy in this life is reaching Siddhashram. ‘
If we can’t achieve totality after attaining this human form, then it would be like stopping on one of the stoppages in between the journey and achieving death. A stoppage can’t be the destination, stoppage is just a place to relax a bit and if we consider the stoppage as our destination, then it is incompleteness of human life and most of the people die at this stage of incompleteness only.
The place where Siddhashram is referred to in Yajur Veda, at that very place a Sage has also mentioned that literally those people are blessed who continuously thinks about Siddhashram, who continuously desires to achieve that level which is referred to as Brahmatva, which is considered to be Moksha (spiritual enlightenment) within this life only. Ishaavaasyopanishad mentions it as follows:
Poornamadah Poornamidam
Poornaatpoornamudachyate.
Poornasya Poornamaadaaya
Poornamevaavashishyate.
There will be no difference in a human and an animal if we can’t achieve this stage in our life. An animal also considers the intermediate stoppage as life, it treats the eating as a stoppage, it treats giving birth to its offsprings as a stoppage. We are also like animals, we also treat eating, resting, giving birth to our child and earning money as the essence of life. However none of them are the destination of life, these are like some facilities in our journey.
Siddhashram is an unique place which is created by the Gods themselves. God Vishwakarma has himself created it. Brahma has himself energized its each and every particles, where Goddess Lakshmi is present in Her complete form, where Lord Vishnu is present as a nurturer in complete form and Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati resides just adjacent to Siddhashram on Mount Kailash. He is the Lord who has won over the death and due to this reason, death cannot enter into Siddhashram.
A human can’t die there, not only a human, even a blossomed flower can’t wilt there. Even grass strands out there don’t fade. As there is no death in Siddhashram so whatever is there it remains as it is in its full blossomed way because there is no death there and totality of life can be achieved only where there is no death.
There is no night in Siddhashram. A soothing light, like we get when the sun is about to set and moon is about to appear, always remain there. There is neither very harsh sunlight nor the complete darkness of night, a milky light always remain there. And we can witness all those sages, Lakshmi, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and all other Gods and Goddess roaming around there, we can witness them chatting with each other, we can see them providing knowledge to others.
Totality of life is to reach there because when we do so, we can even make contact with our ancestors. It is such a great fortune that an offspring can listen to his ancestor who is 500th generation before him and sit in his feet and attain knowledge and by doing so he is able to combine all these five hundred generations in a single link.
It is mentioned clearly in Ishaavaasyopanishd that I am myself a Brahma (Aham Brahmaasmi) …. | must rise in my life to such great level to become a God and even beyond to become Brahmaya (attain knowledge of Brahma). And attaining this level can only be possible by attaining Siddhashram in this life. This is because we can sit in the feet of those great Sages who created these Vedas and can listen to those mantras again from their divine mouth. We can listen the Shreemada Bhagvad Gita from
Lord Krishna Himself. What can be a greater fortune than this in life?
Siddhashram is a very huge place which is located beyond Mansarovara from Mount Kailash and Mount Vindhyaanchala and doesn’t have any boundary. If you start from one end, you can’t reach to the other end, it is so vast. Siddhayoga lake is continuously flowing there. It is very clean and even though it has a depth of around one mile, if you throw a coin in it you can still see it at the bottom. Such clean water can exist in Siddhashram only.
Now the question that arise before us is that our Upanishads, Purans and other religious texts have mentions four traits of life – Religion, Money, Work and Divine Enlightenment.
– Religion is “Dharyati Sah Dharma” what we follow in life is Dharma or Religion.
– By means of Kaam or deeds we help in continuation of this world.
– Money or Artha helps us to live a life of prosperity and fulfillment.
– And for Moksha or Divine Enlightment …what is the meaning of this word? Is dying means attaining Moksha’? Does finishing this body means Moksha or if attaining Heaven means Moksha.
As per me all the philosophers as well as the knowledgeable person have given their own definition of Moksha, however Naradopanishad mentions this definition in a very beautiful way.
If we refer Kathopanishad, then we will find that Nachiketa questions Yama regarding Moksha. What is the goal of attaining Moksha and why do we need it? Yama gives him the most appropriate answer to this.
He tells – getting rid of all the bondages in life is attaining Moksha. This is because the moment a human being is born, he finds himself tied to hundred types of bonds. We are father of someone, we are son of someone, someone Is our brother, someone is our uncle, we serve someone and someone is our servant. In this way we get tied to various types of bonds in life.
The moment a child is born, he gets tied to several such bonds. Someone says that he is my son, one claims he is my brother, someone other claim him to be his nephew, someone claims him to be his religious brother and so on. Then when he grows up, he gets married. Then several other bonds like being a husband, being a father also gets attached to him. He also gets in the trap of earning wealth, he gets bonded to this thought process, his house and several other such things and lives his life like this only. Moksha means to get rid of all these bonds, dying in itself is not attaining Moksha. Moksha means become free of everything in life.
We can achieve Moksha in this present life only, it is not necessary that we need hundred years to attain this level. Prahlad attained Moksha at an age of 5 only whereas Vashishta took several hundred years to attain Moksha. Naarad attained Moksha in few years only.
When a human being gets free from all these worldly tie ups and attains the level of Paramhans completely then this achievement is termed as Moksha. The path one follows after attaining the Moksha is the path to Siddhashram. Attaining Siddhashram prior to achieving this levels not possible.
A person tied to all these worldly desires can’t even think of going to Siddhashram prior to attaining Moksha in life. The first goal of such an ambitious person should be to attain Moksha in life. He should get free of all the worldly desires, such as he shouldn’t feel anything whether he gets food or not, whether his wife is there with him or not.
There should be no wishes present in the life of that person, no thoughts, no selfish desires should exist in the life of such a person. In a way, that person gets detached of all the worldly ties. He then feels the complete world as his own, he considers this whole universe to be within him. He gets to a level where even his existence becomes negligible to him. He starts considering that he has no one in this world and he also belongs to none. When a person attains such a stage, then it is termed as Moksha.
If we are tied to such worldly bonds, then we can get out of those ties by our own efforts. Getting rid of all those bonds means attaining Moksha in life. And when one attains Moksha, then only his travel towards Siddhashram starts. Due to his reason only, attaining Siddhashram is way ahead of attaining Moksha in life.
When I use the word Siddhashrm, then it doesn’t mean taking 5,000 or 10,000 rupees with yourself and going there with your family members and enjoying there with them. There is no such definition of Siddhashram.
Siddhashram means – Moksha as narrated by Lord Shri Krishna in Gita. He guides Arjun by saying, “First of all you should break all the shackles of this religion”. You are neither Hindu nor Muslim nor Sikh and neither Christian. Just think of only this one thing. I will take you towards Nirvana by removing all your sins, all your shackles, these brothers, relatives, religion, your lies, your evil plans etc.
You will not see these relatives, Guru, your brothers once you start your travel on the path of attaining Nirvana in life. If you wish to conquer this battle, then these selfish thoughts, your religion, your relationship should not come in front of you.
Lord Shri Krishna used the word Nirvana and advised Arjun that he need to get rid of all the worldly ties for once and then only he can get the correct thought process in life.
This was an important message and it is mentioned later in Gita that- Arjun! You not only have to finish all these people and win over the kingdom, you also have to attain the Nirvana and then finally become a Siddha…..Siddha is a person who has attained full consciousness in life, who has imbibed all the atoms of this universe within himself. Then he doesn’t have to look outside what’s happening around, he then looks within and this looking within is heading towards Siddhashram. In true sense, reaching Siddhashram is the goal of this life, attaining Nirvana is just a milestone on this path.
We take birth from the mother’s womb and travel on a well established path in life with all these shackles. Someone attains the Nirvana at a very small age and then automatically he gets this feeling to attain enlightenment in life. He sets goals for his life, he wishes to explore the unknown places, the unexplained meaning of Vedas and then to attain total completeness in life.
Achieving this total completeness in life is called as attaining Siddhashram because after this there can be no incompleteness in life. Siddhashram is termed as attaining everything in life. Siddhashram is not just a place to sit with closed eyes and wearing lion cloth. It is a definition of completeness in life. I mentioned to you about the narration between Yama and Nachiketa written in Kathopanishad. Nachiketa asks further, “Why is it important to attain Siddhashram in life?”’.
Yama replies, “A human swings between the two end – life and death. Taking birth is not in his control and neither is to attain the death. He takes birth all of a sudden and dies due to his ill nature. He doesn’t have any control on any of the two traits. When we become capable to control these traits with the help of our mind, our soul and our deeds, then only we becomes capable to start our journey towards Siddhashram, to bypass the death is the first step towards Siddhashram.”
After listening to these words Nachiketa asks the second question, “What is the next step after crossing the death in life? I request you to enlighten me as you are my Guru.”
As I have just explained that death and taking birth are both not in control of a common man. However a man can cross the death and travel beyond it. Yama then explicitly mentions, ““Nachiketa you have to kick the death in your life if you wish to attain total completeness in life. Death is not something to be afraid of, it is a decoration of life, it is something to witness in life. Everyone in this world is tied in some sort of relationship and due to this reason they are afraid of death. People try to take medicines to avoid death, they try various chemicals, they do various things to safeguard themselves. They close all their windows and sit quietly in the home, they keep swords, spears or guns and create a protective layer around themselves yet they can’t escape from death because all these efforts are useless.
Only a single divine thing can save a person from death and He is called Guru. Only He can tell you that there is no need to be afraid of death. Only He can tell you that there is no need to keep your windows closed or to keep weapons to safeguard yourself. There is no need of these thing to kick in the face of death. The process to kick in the face of death is termed as Sadhana. “Shareeram Saadhayati ” i.e. a person who has full control over himself can think of defeating death, only such a person can keep this whole Universe on his toes.
The way we kick a ball and push it away, similarly a person who is not tied into any relationship can kick the death and then there is no point of death in his life, death can’t touch him again. This mechanism to kick in the face of death is called as Sadhana and this Sadhana is called Siddhashram Sadhana. However only a Guru can tell you the essence of this sadhana because only a Guru is free of all the worldly ties, his soul is free of all the relationships.
A person traveling on this path can remain alive for unlimited time. Then there can be no diseases, no pains, no deficits. Then there are no sufferings, no tensions and where only elixir of joy exists. Where only “Dwandateetam Param Sukhdam Kevalam Gyaan Murtim’” can exist, i.e. where there is no doubts, no fears and no deficits in life. The joy which emanates from the heart is termed as Brahmananda and the means by which we can attain this joy is none other than Guru.
We are humans and we need to reach to the level of Gods and become divine. However we have not seen Brahma, we are not acquainted to Brahma, we don’t know the true form of Brahma. How He looks like, we are not aware of that also?
However there is link in between these two and he is called as Guru. We are acquainted to Him, we have seen His body, we have seen His face, nose, ears, eyes….and we know everything about Him. He is just like us and due to this reason we have a bonding. Treating Him as a medium and identifying His true form, we can get acquainted to Brahma also and we can ask Him which way to travel in the life.
May you all get a true Guru in your life who can show you the path to reach Siddhashram. Not only the path, who can take you to Siddhashram in this very life. I bless you all once again from the depth of my heart that all my disciples may enter into the Siddhashram and achieve totality in life.
